Title: Texas, Gotta Love It!
Post by: rpm on August 20, 2003, 02:47:37 AM
With all the problems around the US the last week or so, makes ya really appreciate living in Texas. Texas did not black out. We have our own power grid, only state in lower 48 that does. We have our own refineries. No broken pipeline to cause gas shortages. Of course the Native Wildlife is nice as well!

That road looks fun, would be great to drive that road with one of the girls in the other picture.

Texas sounds better every day to me.   What is Corpus Cristi like?  Very civilized laws about guns and cars.

Corpus is a weird town.  I never have decided if I liked it enough to live there, but my brother seemed to.  I do go there often, though not actually to CC, but to the "Port" places(Port A, Port I, Port M, Port O, etc.).

was born and raised in corpus.  If you like the fishing/boating lifestyle its awesome.  Wind blows constantly there so sailing is usually darn good, offshore fishing is the tops.  Ask udie and those guys about rockport.

Only drawback is if your umm of a caucasion background.  Learn spanish, seems like every channel is spanish.  Plus don't plan on any decent job unless your hispanic or know someone.

They will tell you its south Texas but its really north Mexico.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi as well.  Nice place to visit, but I could not recommend it for full time residence.

Port A (Aransas) is a lot of fun.  Again, nice to visit.

The humidity would melt most people from the north of Austin.  It very seldom gets below 50%.  Then the occasional hurricane garantees to rearrange the landscape from time to time.  Although, after surviving an earthquake, I would take a hurricane any day of the week.

The day they built the first building on Padre Island was pretty much the time frame that Corpus ceased being a decent place to have fun.  Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

If you are going to live anywhere south of Austin, you should at least know remedial Spanish. You will use it everyday, ordering Cervesa Fria, Por Favor. :D
