Title: Anyone seen my AR 234
Post by: RUSH on November 29, 2001, 02:48:00 AM
I need to ask for a moment of silence. After I spent 2 and a half months saving bomber perks I lost them all today. I bought my first AR 234. Loved it. Practiced with it in the training arena for awhile knowing I would get one very soon. Took off from field 4 tonight heading over to hit Field 5. Looked down and OMG! I was running out of fuel. Asked around and found out that 25% fuel don't get ya far in the world with them jets. So I figured darn... Time to turn around. So I dropped my bombs and turned back to A4.

It was here I realized something. I had practiced take offs - I had practiced flying this plane at all altitudes and speeds. Just so I would know how to handle the plane in the MA. One thing I forgot. One small little thing I over looked and I realized it when I was lining up for a landing.

I never practiced landing.....  After 3 turns zipping right off the end of the runway I turned for a final running on fumes. Right as I hit the deck the engines cut out. I had full flaps and full brakes. I think I stopped a good 5 miles North of the field.

Boom. One easy step I lose all my perkies I have been earning for 2 months in my POS JU88.

Moral of the story for all the newbies out there. Practice often in the training room with the perk planes before taking them out. But just make sure you practice landing the jets.

By the way. If anyone sees my AR234 can you tow it back to base for me. I will hate sitting in the cockpit of that damn JU88 again for 2 months after riding in that bird.

Thanks

RUSH

*This Post is not a gripe. Mainly a place to grieve over a lost AR 234. There are planes more expensive but for someone who manages a kill every five missons it was worth alot more to me than to most.

Ouch.  Know yer perk plane.  The Ar234 may have a tricky T/O, but landings are the most interesting part.  And while the plane is mostly kerosene, that doesn't give it much in the line of endurance.

Now, to get your points back in a hurry, I recommend base-defense ackstarring in a ju88.  You get something like 2-4 PPs per plane you shoot down.
When Mindanao finally goes away, you can use the '88 to bomb tanks.  One FP is worth 4 perk points.

Umm... It sounds like you also forgot to practice fuel management  :D

Otherwise you would have known that 25% was not enough...

Practice some more or learn the hard way  :D

Hey bro if you want bomber perks try resuppling fields and running goons to capture bases. You could have enough points for another in a matter of hours, you receive a lot of perks for doing those 2 things.

<S> and good luck.

Sorry to here that btw, what a bad way to loose all those bomber perks  :(

yep, definately the best way to get bomber perks is flying a goon....12.5 points for a field capture.

Only problem is that the fuel burn multiplier is turned way down in the TA, so he could probably fly forever there on 25% without a problem.

I definitely recommend dropping troops and taking fields though.  Or taking Lancs and bombing strat targets.  You can build those points back in no time.  Good luck!

Check what the multiplier is in the MA, then practice in offline mode with those settings.

I recommend going back to the TA, or offline and finding a very high field (8-10k) and practice 100% fuel takeoffs.

HTC please give RUSH 70 of my bomber perk points. Heck give him 210 so he can have a hanger full of ar234s.

wish there was some way of transfering perks, especially amongst squad mates.

like   .give 100 BP,FP "handle"

lol i could just see my girlfriend firing up aces high   .give 2000 BP "xxxxx"

"that will teach you for spending too much time on your stupid game!!!"
