Title: e-Geforce FX 5200 card help
Post by: Gigg on August 24, 2003, 02:43:22 PM
I just replaced my old GF 3 tI 200 with the above card. It is not a very expensive card but has 128 mb of ddr memory. Does anyone have any tweek tips or utility suggestions for the Ge force fx card. The first thing i noticed was I could not find a switch for vsync to turn it on and off. I believe this was a utility I had to add for the GF 3. If anyone is familiar with this card I would apreciate some comments as to how good or bad it is also. Being unemployed lately I could not go with a more expensive card as of yet, so I wish to make the best of this one.

Thanks all,

Gigg

get rivatuner

You perhaps took a step down going to that 5200, its basically an FX MX...

As far as tweaks go, just leave everythin on default, and don't bother with Antialiasing

I have to agree with Skurj. You have to be careful. A cheaper new card may still be slower than an old one which was top notch two years ago.

Definately do not use anti-aliasing with that card.

Really should not use anistrophic filtering, either, with any of the FX line, as it is all done in the driver (no hardware support) and burdens the CPU quite a bit.

g4 ti4200 128ddr tv dvi

go with the g4?

Coolbits is just a registry hack which allows you to turn off v-sync etc

Rivatuner does it for you

Looking for a new card myself to replace my GF3 Ti200 1128meg card and bought myself a Geforce FX 5900 256meg.  Now I just have to get a motherboard that supports 8x AGP and I'll be in there.
