Title: Playability and LAG!
Post by: aknimitz on December 11, 2000, 07:56:00 PM
I have experienced unparalleled network problems in the Main Arena lately which have decreased the playability of the game.  I receive damage upto five seconds after planes pass, upto 15 seconds after ack hits me and planes are becoming difficult to hit at times.

I am almost certain its not my connection, is anyone else having this problem?  HTC, if you are reading this, is there anything that will be done to alleviate the network lag in the arena?

Thanks,
AKNimitz

Nim.. my con is at least as bad this evening.

Using pingplotter i found hops on both the main and alternate route losing packets.  I don't think its a problem at HT's end...

Aknimitz,

I have been having all kinds of AH beacon troubles the last 2 weeks, but this week is the worst. I have actually had to log off AH twice because of connects. I'm experiencing two type of connect issues. Type one is other planes begin to warp when I am D 300 and less < and this for me is the most important time in my 109 :/ >. The other type of connect problem is my beacon light basically bounces between yellow, green, no color, .... I'm assuming my connects are fine because I can move directly over to the "other" online sim and my connect there is rock solid. Also, Young Ash's Half Life "life" shows very low ping times also after these warpfests in AH. I live in Burlington Vermont.

Jihad, I'm a little nervous about using these cable modem "helpers". Which one would you recommend? I have Dell 866, DSL, W98< installed on system >.

TY,

Ash

East coast U.S. connections rock solid. No warps, no more lag than usual and I'm still on a 56k dialup  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif).

No problem for me lately. Not saying folks aren't experiencing problems though.

Here's another tweak site: www.dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com)

I've had cable modem service for near 4 years now, and of all the "tweaks" and "patches" I have tried NONE have improved gaming performance.
The best thing you can do, if you are on cable or DSL using w9x is increase the value of RWIN.  www.dslreports.com (http://www.dslreports.com)  has a registry patch which does do this for you.  This will not help gaming at all!!  It may increase your download speeds though.  I recently installed it on a friends DSL hookup.  His average download speed went from 70kb/sec to 100+.

I cannot speak for w2k or wME as I have not installed it yet, and likely won't fer awhile.
