Been playing it since 1.3 and I imagine Ill keep playing until its ported to the HL2 engine.

Awesome gameplay - best ever in a multi-player FPS.

havent touch it in days.. Maps are to claustrophobic for me now that other games are out. I hear DOD is already being developed on the HL2 engine. Can't wait for that. ( domain names purchased ect... )

Yep, I've been playing since 2.0 I think, but not very much then.  I really got into it when 3.1 came out.  I am actually pretty decent with the carbine.  I agree, Jagd is the best map, followed by Charlie.

I just started playing it this week.  Is there are way to get rid of the red aiming point and look in the gun sight?

Is it just me or does it seem that I can't hit crap, and yet some kid can pick me off from 50 yards while he is running?

LOL  :D

I dont think you can modify the gunsight... although I could be wrong... I just use it as it.

As far as hitting anything, its tough - the basics are these:

Standing - wide cone of fire
Crouching -  medium cone of fire
Prone - concentrated cone of fire

Single shot - accurate
Automatic - wild

Moving - very wild
Stationary - accurate

The kids picking you off are 'kar potatos.'  The 'kar' is the Mauser 98K - a bolt action rifle that, in the game, has the lowest rate of fire, but the smallest cone of fire.  While you can only shoot about every .75 seconds, your round is going to go exactly where the red dot is.

EDIT:  Oh, and hes not running when he shoots you with a rifle - he is stopping for just a half second to steady his aim before he shoots, then moving again - youll get the hang of it.

Here is the IP address of my clan's server - lots of great guys and a more mature setting in which to play.

there was an "Iron site" mod for dod 2 but I dont think  its been ported to 3.

You can cutomize your red dot and make the gunsite you want or get rid of it all togther.

Onec you get the hang of stop aim shoot move you can run up so crazy kill streaks.

The mg34 is just ****in sweet I have had kill killstreaks over 100.

My best was 138. Was 147 and 3 that game

This from earlier tonight.

Its a great game.

I got fed up with the game because the K98k is apparently some kind of death ray laser beam that can kill even by grazing the hairs on the back of one's neck.  As for the M1 Garand, well, you might as well be flinging marshmellows with a slingshot, cause that seems to be the effect on the enemy.

About the garand, there is a problem with the hitboxes right now.  It is supposed to kill in one shot to the torso or the head, but since the arms are very often infront of the torso, and the hitboxes do not fit the 3D model perfectly, many times the game thinks you hit the arms, thus taking two hits to kill a guy.  The DOD guys are fixing that in 1.1 by making it so that if the torso is in the path of the bullet after hitting the arm, it will regester as a torso hit, and thus kill in one hit.

I kinda wished they made the Garand fully semi-auto though.

Been playing since beta 1.2. Used to be a huge fan of the game, but the HL engine is showing its age - specifically map size and graphics.

Sadly, no other WW2 shooter comes close.
