It would be funny if it wasn't so stupid.

I going by historical data here:

If a democrat suggests the tax assessor take a look at new methods of raising taxes, then the word "Democrat" or the politician is not associated with a party ("D").

If its a republican thats doing the taxing, and/or cuts to help reduce spending to meet budgets, then the evil "R" is placed on the name, or the party is directly referred to.

So, Orange county, Florida residents...whats the predominent party in Orange County?

"Computer networks would be taxed at that percent on either annual lease payments or depreciation."

How many businesses or big data centers would leave Florida rather than pay +9% on hardware depreciation?

The proposal has its roots in a legislative directive handed down two years ago. It aimed to modernize how the state taxes communications

It's a state tax in any case.

Sounds less like historical data than conjecture based on (incorrect) assumptions. Of course, if you do want to take a newspaper, such as the New York Times, and do a complete quantitative study of the use of (R) and (D) in taxation articles, I'd be very interested in seeing the results.

This is what pisses me off. As a small business owner. We pay enough fraggin taxes to the state.  This could put the mom& pop's out of business.

I run a lan/wan set up here at our office. And I sure the hell don't want to pay the tax for something that I have to personally maintain and upkeep. Ban enough we pay tax's on the DSL line. FCC& ans State and local taxes which run about 20 bucks as it stands now.

I'm thinking Margarita, although in Florida the Mai Tai party may predominate.  Either way, they don't know! Look at the 2000 election!

This has to be a stupid joke...I read the article and just wonder why any state (any!) that want's to be business friendly would find more creative ways to tax something...

Up here in Maine, our Legislature thought "gee, we should try to get people to not eat junk food" so they crafted a snack tax.  Nevermind if you looked at our legislators, they looked like an all white version of a Fat Albert Reunion....

I'm all for paying a fair share, but this is simply stupid.
