Never did get glidedos or any other glide emulator to work well and I could never go back to directdraw in RB3D. If Sierra had recoded RB3D for directx they might still be selling it today.

Bought my first computer, and then went to "Fry's" in LA and bought Red Barron. I returned it the next day. Pry wasn't 3D then though.

There is a 3d wrapper that works fine for me..I fly it offline still.

I actually ordered the Full Canvas Jacket add-on a few months ago. I just got an email saying he's finished the patch and is my copy is in the mail. I will let you guys know if I think it was worth the $28.

The flight model started to get bad and buggy with the patches.  Remember the Albatross, when it would get shot in the wings, the climb rate would soar?  Actually that went for many planes.  And the irrecoverable spins.

my main problem with the game was the FM uneffected by fuel/ammo loads.  and with the inability to capture bases it ultimately came down to a big furball with people just respawning and flying back in.

but I do miss that game, I think it was my main game for a longer period than any other.

Does this new 3D wrapper contain a bunch of patches for RB 3D? Or is it strictly a 3D wrapper?

I'm just wondering if this would make it worth dragging the game out of storage, downloading the super patch from Sierra and giving this a try again.

Any thoughts?

monk, a couple questions

what video card where those shots taken from?

as I read it this is just an all-inclusive patch to run all the 'promissed land' improvements,  is this right?  I'd still need to re-aquire my RB3D disc to use this, right?

is this mostly a graphics/sound patch?  or there new planes, changes to existing flight moddle (I believe someone before mentioned the bug that lift improves as wings get shot on a few planes).

I'd love to see changes in the FM where bombs and fuel effect your flight. any chance that kinda stuff is in there?

SKurj posted the link, yes you need the game and the glide wrapper, that's all.

It's a graphic, sound and FM patch.

Trust me, with this patch there isn't a better WW1 sim out there.

I seem to remember the view system was lacking the last time I played it (could be mistaken). Does it now have a snap view system like AH (AW etc.)?
