Title: Magazine ads from the 40s
Post by: polka on August 26, 2003, 07:27:24 PM
Hello All!
I found some old magazines from the 40s. A lot of good reading, but I get the biggest laugh out of the advertisements. Here are two examples....

#1... Hey, isn't that stuff bad for you?

#2...  I just don't know what to say about this...

The old magazines are a little too big for my scanner, so I have to piece the ads together. Perhaps I'll scan a few more later.

they're right about that lead paint though.  some of it has been around for half a century and they still can't get rid of it.

I scraped my kitchen cabinets a couple of weekends ago and repainted.  My house was built in '41, so I probably have some lead paint in there somewhere.  It was actually a pretty interesting archeological study of colors and styles from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's; a real trip through time as I examined the paint chips.

Now my brain has turned to mush and I can't remember a thing my wife tells me to do. :p
