Will Aces High II allow more than one player to be signed on from the same house on one master account for the same $14.95 monthly fee?
Some Internet sites allow this, and AOL added this feature in its latest 9.0 release. Up to seven users from one household account can go on line simultaneously to AOL, a stunningly fun feature.
With so many households having more than one computer and linking them via home networks, simultaneous access to any Internet site seems to be the new minimum standard, doesn't it?
Uh, er, since I haven't tried it ... Aces High doesn't already allow this, does it?
-
No it doesn't.

And i will understand 100% if it never does too...

Me and my kid bro had an account each for a considerable time. Don't think there is any other way to do it. Besides, it is kind of cool to wing with someone who is sitting in the next room.
-
You need an account each, as myself, husband and son have - in fact I have two so that I can be in two MA Squads... :)
PS - this is a game, not an internet site! ;)
-
lol, can you imagine the self vultching stat padding, when one guy lines up his 5 accounts on the runway and just blasts the hell out of them?
If you want to do that you need to fork over some cash lol.

Sikboy, one person still can play only one persona at a time. Unless you are REALLY fast running between computers!
Flossy, I may not have been clear enough about AOL's policy change. AOL is both an internet service provider and a massive, massive site with all sorts of features.
Like many, I log on to AOL via another ISP, a cable service. I kept access to AOL because it has always been the most user friendly and comprehensive one stop or at least initial feature laden spot on the web.
Until version 9.0, AOL allowed only one persona per account on line at the same time. Obviously that was more profitable for AOL.
But now up to seven people from the same household can log on to AOL with no extra charge. I don't know why AOL did that, but I'm sure glad they did.
Few households have seven people, but many have two or three or four. It is great to be able to instant-message your own family and interact with them on line just as you do with strangers.
Aces High as usual has been technologically astute by allowing separate accounts from the same family on line at the same time. That's great, but now businesses like AOL are upping the competition ante by allowing multiple access from one household account.
I wonder if this is something HiTech Creations has thought about before and what it thinks about this in the future? I was delighted when their monthly fee dropped to become much more competitive. Now I wonder if they are considering multiple access from one account too? If not without extra charge, perhaps with a small additional charge?
It doesn't affect me personally since the kids are grown and gone, and my wife doesn't do Aces High. (Hmmm, then again, with bonus multiple access I might try to talk her into it.)

Have you tried autotrim? trim on angle etc?

I still think comparing AOL and Aces High is like comparing Chalk and Cheese! :)
-
Heh, yeah, chalk and cheese is good analogy -- or maybe more like elephant and mouse. But multiple users on one account is a business issue that transcends all sizes of Internet services.
I've always been thrilled with Aces High and still consider it a fabulous state of the art AND affordable attraction. However, the multiple user on single account issue probably will become more of a tiebreaker as online businesses get more competitive.
-
When AOL comes out with a flight sim that is as good as AH and allows you to play multiple logins from one account, I'll consider switching. The gameplay comes first.
-
Considering AH already allows multiple users in a single household to connect simultaneously provided they each have an account it's all rather mute. I know you're going to say that AOHELL has raised the bar for the competition but what you fail to realize that AOHELL is first and foremost an Internet service/content provider.
It's also silly to ask a company that derives pretty much all it's revenue from its subscription base (unlike AOHELL) to in effect lose money by offering such a subscription plan. Maybe you can do it by convincing HT you'll be willing to pay $50 or more a month to have such a feature but asking it for $15 bucks a month is dumb. A better plan would ask HTC if they could give you a price break on additional accounts.

Not only does it not but only one member of a "house" gets a free two week trail (when working off a common internet connection)
And frankly we are due a price rise soon......... I want to see this game expand and development costs bucks....... I reckon a few more dollars a month are in order.
-
Nobody wants to see Aces High continue a long and prosperous career more than I do. I was just reporting a major new development by the biggest ISP/content source (AOL, about 25 million subscribers).
Certainly Aces High with maybe 4,000 or 5,000 participants is different, but business competitiveness has a way of affecting a wider range than we sometimes expect.
So, note the AOL development, think about its potential influence on Internet business in general, and enjoy Aces High with as many accounts as you care to buy. By any measure, Aces High is a surpreme bargain with a game and a loyal following that might be unequalled anywhere else.

Then I would have to become a CM again. ;)

The door will always be open for you, daddog! ;)

Since when is AOL competing in the online flight sim market?
AOL is not competition...
Now if HTC is gonna be come an ISP.....

Ummm NO price increase... If I had been OK with a price increase, I would have stayed with Warbirds!

Development costs bucks????
Well if HTC is gonna hire more staff then I could see development costing more $$. As it is though the number of employees at HTC doesn't seem to have changed, so I'd imagine with the exception of raises... how can development cost more than it already is?
I don't think its cost that holds HTC back... I think its time...

Trying to make Halo's idea work in Aces High II, would be allowing 2 logins via the same account but they have to be for the ToD arena, and be on opposite sides. That way niether Avatar (axis/allied) lags behind in rank, perks, etc. If one could pay maybe an extra $2.50 a month? Or offer it as a premium package which includes ToD and Classic Arenas. (since there has been no determination on pricing for AH2) If a person does own a "premium account" it allows for maybe just 1 satalite login.
