Top speed was redline limited, about 140. If you could get a Mini with that motor I probably wouldn't have a Subaru.

Out of curiousity, why would you need 140?  any track you'd take it to with some sort of car club would probably not permit 140 in the straight away...the max one can get at the Seattle International raceway track is about 120 before you need to brake for the corner.  Do you consistently cruise above 120 on the freeway or would it simply be a "braggin' rights" issue to have a car that goes that fast?

0-60 in 5.9 sec and 155 mph top speed keeps me happy...

...Dinan chip $200...takes the governer off  Thats the first thing I had done...

...And I can do 155 (see the above post) though I've never had it above 140

So you were questioning why I would discuss top speed, but the first thing you did on your car was to have the ECU modified to allow a greater top speed of 155 mph, and then spammed that figure all over this board?

All your speed are belong to Porsche.

Heheh Rip needs a chip to make his car go over 140 ....

Damn shame my car is drag limited on speed (@130). Or else it would do 140+ (Speed test on dyno 151mph) and I don't need no little chip thingie to make my car go faster :p

But other then a track enviroment where you might.. if your lucky to have a straight long enough to make it 150. I mean really, why would you have the need to go that fast other then bragging rights? Or is that just it. To brag?!?

Pah.  You're both slow arse wussies.

YZF-R6.   0-60 in 3.5 seconds.  Standing 1/4 in 11 dead.
160mph top end out of the crate.

P.S.  And in a slapping contest my money's on Funked.

Lets take several of our conversations over the years out of context LOL! :D

Hey, you're happy with Suburu, I'm happy with BMW brand.  I get more chicks, you get cut off on the freeway. Be happy!

Hey Rip... psst... I drove an S52 M Coupe a few days ago... I think I liked it... maybe a replacement for the 330... shhh...

What do you think of them?

Bah, What nonsense. I can do 165 to 170 regularly and never worry about a ticket. My Comanche doesn't need a road either.  ;)  :p

Love the M coupe engine, suspension, although the visuals are very appealing to me, but visual appeal is low priority.  I'd buy one but I need to be able to seat more than 2. Go for it!  I have a long funny story about a test drive in a friends M coupe I'll post some day. :)

Rip it's not about Subaru vs. BMW, just weird that you would give me crap about mentioning top speed when you are the one who's obsessed with it.  :)

(The 140 mph was regarding a Honda)

I simply asked you what the top speed was, dufus. :)  I honestly did not know, and I'm not an Edmunds junky. :)

I find it odd that someone with such Pro American Republican beliefs would drive a foreign car. Rip, has GM become such a liberal organization you can't drive one? Or is it simply an ego boosting status symbol thing? Following your logic of choices why would anyone fly in a Boeing when there is Airbus?

Comparing Boeing to GM is an insult to Boeing.
Airbus' product is about on par with Boeing's.  I won't fly on one but in terms of performance/dollar they are pretty good.
BMW's product is so much better than GM it's not even funny.

BMW's are made in the USA you dipchit.  Do me a favor while you are spewing stuff you know zero about...tell me ONE, just ONE, automobile manufacturer that has an automobile that is 100% American parts and American assembled.

Rip your BMW was not made in the USA, according to your own posts.

Bavarian Motor Works.... yep that says All-American to me. Toyota and Honda have US factories, does that mean they are "American" as well?

Not mine, but BMW's ARE made in America. Full assembly line  for X5's and Z4's.  That line about "buy American" just don't cut it in todays global economy. :D  You have to buy Japanese if you want to support American workers! :)

Ah... bragging about aspects of a car you'll never need is funny.  Watching you two pretend like it doesn't concern you is even funnier.

Uh..

1)  Your stock 80 Subaru could not hit 140 without body mods.  Can you say front end float?
2)  The Spitfire 1500 will not do 160.  It's front end floated badly at speed.
3)  The Accent would blow up before it got there.

The BMW can do 155 all day long and do it safely.  None of the cars you listed will do that.

Really? Over here it's BMW drivers that get stuck at T junctions or cut up on the motorways. And that's not because of envy, it's because the drivers of BMWs are generally ****s or drug dealers or pimp-daddies. :D

So BMW makes X5s and Z4s in the States... which model do you have?
