Title: With the new arenas and all...
Post by: lazs2 on August 28, 2003, 08:32:31 AM
To bring up an old suggestion... being able to toggle the maps for different arenas no matter what arena you are in.

with AH2 and (despite what beetle believes) the large maps in the MA driving players to the other arenas.... why not be able to toggle the maps instead of "quit, relog into new arena, look around... figure out what is going on and then quit agin if it is no better than where you left"

In the CT last night... a determined group of suicide fluffers in late war fluffs managed to eventually ruin a very long and fun fite.... a squaddie quit and cheked back on pizza and found a cv fight there that we all straggled into... by the time it got killed... most of us were done for the nite anyhow but...

Wouldn't it be great to just find the kind of fight you wanted on the map you wanted by flipping thru the various arena maps from whatever arena you were in?

I think it would help spred the numbers around too.

Good idea....I don't think that is possible for HT to do without considerable effort. I'll ask him today.

BTW....fluffers in the CT is just plain wrong.

I think you're right Rude. As it is now, you must exit the game to the "main menu" when changing terrains or the game crashes.

Capping a base en massse and smacking down the other sides players before or as soon as they had thier wheels up is considered "fun" fights?

If it weren't for those "fluffer"s I'd have never gotten to 2k alt let alone into a fair fight of any kind. While I wish they had not sunk the CV they did provide a necessary diversion.  The fuel at our nearest base to that one had been porked by your SBD's and TBM's from the CV group offshore and a base further north.

As for the feature request. Excellent idea. I've found it a pita quitting an arena and not beiong able to be simply be back at the online arena selection page.

Absolutely, guys should be allowed to run from vultch fest to milk run as they see fit.  How dare anyone shoot back.

Those bastards.

Proof, please.. The "it's true because i say so.. K/T!!" response only works with your clones - not on me.

Gotta side with Westy on this one...

The "fun fights" was the allies vulchin and porkin the axis fields within range of the cv.  (i was allied at the time)

I don't blame the axis for sinking the cv

Is it really surprising to anyone that when you put enough MA players into any arena you will get MA play?  It is the same game. it is the same people.  CT is just the MA on a smaller scale.  The only differences apparent are that; finding a fight is more difficult, you can't see the enemy very well, and you are prevented from flying most of the aircraft.  (Why this isn't asstoundingly more popular is a mystery?)

Ok... so last night there was enough blame to go around for both axis and allies... the point remains when the (cough) "strat" guys ruin the fight it would be nice to be able to check out several arenas easily.

If someone used the feature to vultch or milkrun.... so what?  that doesn't affect me.

If HTC doesn't hurry up and ban bombs and bombers... I'm truly afraid lazs is going to "go postal" on someone eventually.

....the map thingy is a good idea though.

Wouldn't it be great if you would put a sock in it once in a while?

I guess each scenario has an equal chance of becoming real, ie. none...

Why not do what Counter Strike and DoD uses... Voting, let everybody vote on the map.

That's why my squad all tried it.

I usually play during U.S. prime time, but I logged into the main (Pizza) this morning for a few quick sorties.  Uggh.   Man, is that map empty with < 150 players.  I think that there should be a check so that when the number of players drops below a certain threshold (e.g., 250) for a certain period of time (e.g., 30 mins.), the big maps get swapped out for the smaller ones.

During US prime time, i see no less than 400 players logged on in the MA.. Not a personal attack on you, and no offense meant,  LoneStarBuckeye, but i think "150 US primetime" is total BS.

You need to re-read what he wrote.

Perma-squelch… man, I’m really glad that HTC is saving and instilling social graces because I really don’t have any.

If there was a perma-squelch, I’d only be listening to about 20 people.  Community though, that’s what we have here and should be a part of!

Oh, and the original topic, it would be cool to see the activity on maps in other arenas.  Especially when AH2 gets here.
