Man, I'm riled that Ubi pushed the lock on demo back till October. It's frustrating because Carl Norman, who was serving as the voice of Eagle Dynamics, said it'd be out this week. The management at Ubi decided that once they got a completed demo from ED, they'd wait on it to hype the game for another month. Carl was overstepped and couldnt do anything about it.
Very aggrevating. The game's release date was Sept 15 or so up until 2 weeks ago, now it's 'Winter 2003.' I'm beginning to wonder if this game will go the route of TF2.
:( :( oh well, i bought flankter 2.5 so that's keeping me somewhat busy getting killed cuz i dont know anything about russian avionics.
-
.....great, ANOTHER one we gotta wait on :(
-
With the amount of work they've done on the game, I very highly doubt that the game will disappear. Though I want to play the game very badly, I'd gladdly wait until winter or next year to play a fully developed version of the game rather than some crap version that's not complete. Worst example of a half finished game might be WWIIOL when it was released. They released that game WAY too early, and would have been much better had they stuck to beta longer.
-
Moose, had you been apart of the Falcon 4.0 release as a buyer, AND THEN, as a Beta tester (it's true) you'd understand a company taking measures to actually delay a release are good. They have reasons I'd assume.
I can wait myself, as it seems too good to be true, and I'm confident that is the case. Man it looks incredible though.

Exactly Weav.

heh, i got booted from the lomac board

i posted one comment regarding my view of the demo situation and its not even a flame. it's just what i consider a pretty damn accurate view of the situation. 2 weeks off. i guess the only comments allowed about the demo are the ones where someone is kneeled behind the mods lips firmly placed against bellybutton cheeks
there are like 10 other threads with people talking about the demo so i guess i just got a little too cocky.
oh well. in two weeks there wont even be a demo out to talk about and by then i will have found the leaked copy on direct connect anyway.
i hate fanbois

More reason why I respect HTC and how they run their business.
Although I loathe the sappy "2 weeks" responces by members here, their jest in fact ironically serves a point.
And you made it painfully clear why Moose. Just saying.

first time ive ever been booted off anything. i feel like such a criminal.
guess i should be heading over to the checksix forums now. :D

Naw, just wait for the release, and then wait for some patches. Have fun in the mean time.

They don't get any sympathy there. ;)

Not much traffic either.
Lame stab Kieren, you know better.
Why don't you just rejoin the AH community and not dart in as you see fit to defend a website no one reads and is boring as hell? You obviously are reading here to catch those rare mentions. I'd like to see you back.

People screaming for an early release are the very same ones that scream about a shoddy release. Seems the best practice is simply not to hype your game at all until it is complete.
And... historically, there have been games with tons of work put into them and tons of pushed back release dates that never really made it into circulation. Of course... BFC3000 is the ultimate example of this... but other games were pushed back so many times that they were nearly obsolete when they were finally released.
It's kind of the Falcon 3.0 vs Falcon 4.0 (as creamo mentioned above). Falcon 3.0 was pretty buggy in regards to net code, but that wasn't a super big thing in the early 90's since the only real way to play it then was via lan party of phone. But, it wasn't something that was anticipated, it was something that was discovered. Then the hype about Falcon 4.0 started some time in... well... '93. Several company moves/buyouts/sellouts later, it was finally released after a measly 5 years of development. And it initially sucked. The best thing anyone could do with it was abandon it and let the community rebuild it. The Falcon 4.0 community and RB2 community are the only two I've ever seen that had taken a relative dog of a game and made it into something great.
Don't know... eventually you just learn not to get excited about release dates and basically just shake your head when you see yet another company make promises that they just can't keep... or you see the people eaglerly awaiting it's release start hyping it and then getting pissed cause all those saying "just wait till it's released" are starting to look pretty damn smart.
Afterall... WW2OL should be a complete WW2 battlefield simulation, minus the navy, most of the weapons, most of the countries involved. Afterall... Il-2 has had MMP netcode right around the corner for 2 years now... just wait and see. Afterall, AH2 will kick all other flight sim's bellybutton because I saw 5 screenshots from it.

Actually caught me on a rare read. Not really defending CheckSix per se though... and heck, I'm boring as hell. ;) Just wanted you guys to know there are those over there that have little appetite for that type of behavior.
I am watching the boards here for news on AH2, interested in how that pans out (of course). Can't seem to find the time to actually play online any game anymore, but can't drop my interest. A sickness I guess.

The silent treatment never amounted to good business as far as I'm concerned. Then again, HTC's catering to the "gamey" types leaves me with the impression that the silent treatment is in fact the best approach...considering.
As of now, I figure AH2 as described previously is vaporware. Imagine the masses having to join a "missun" and follow rules LOL!!! Ya right.. thats gonna work.

I'm not unhappy that they decided to hold the release of the game itself back a couple months. I appreciate good work just as much as the next guy.
However it really ticks me off that Ubi would hold a fully working demo back just to make some more money.
Sad fact of the matter is that Lomac is the only modern sim coming out that looks any good so they have a monopoly going. they could sell it for 70 bucks and people would still buy. they could do this crap with the demo and people would still buy.
personally if there was a comparable alternative, i'd be spending my money elsewhere.
in two weeks im going to resurrect that thread and ask why it was ok to ban me for pointing out the sad truth but its not ok to ban all the people who talk wonders about the demo. If i remember right Andy said *any* talk about it would cost ya two weeks.
Gotta love how they all gang up on me while i cant post, either. kinda like the kids in school who would wait till your back was turned to suckerpunch ya then congratulate each other on winning the fight.
thats a sad community over there. it's either the pissed off malcontents or the stupid hippy fanbois. i considered myself to be one of the rare ones in the middle.

A good point to think about. Missions should take close to a hour in and and out and start on the half hour. Many people will not have the time to join intercept missions. Bombers will probably like it. It will be interesting to fly in a group of 100 bombers or try to intercept that many.

No demo yet? Big deal.
