Title: Glamorous Glenn III
Post by: NUKE on August 30, 2003, 07:10:21 PM
I'm just completing a 1/48th Tamiya P-51, Chuck Yeager's version and need to know what the color of the anti-glare paint on the front is supposed to be.

The instructions say olive drab but all the color pictures I've seen look like it's black and I don't know if these pics are of the real plane or not..

Does anyone know what the correct color is ?

No, seriously, as long as it looks "flat" you should be ok either way.  I have seen it both ways so you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the help, I will post pics.

Here is a link to my Jug and Corsair models I posted awhile back

This P-51 is kicking my butt though, a natural metal finish is the hardest thing to get correct for me, yet I have it almost done now.

Hey Nuke, I think your work is outstanding.  I have a 1/24 Heller FW190A.  How much to do it for me??

Nuke,

I can get you the actual paint numbers on Tuesday morning when I go back to the shop, but it is not Olive Drab, nor is it Flat Black.  It is a mix of the two... but it has its own Mil-Spec number that you can cross to a Model Paint number.  We found the actual numbers through research and would be gald to share it to ensure your accuracy.

A 1/24th? COOL!

I'd do it for free just for the challenge....just might take some time as I travel a lot lately.  You can email me at rpartin@cox.net if you want.

Bodhi..... I just painted it a very dark olive drab/ black combo. Thanks for your offer...you guys are awesome.
