this big map stuff is too much for me I can't stand going to furball after furball and it disapears when i get there or shortly after.
take all these #@!#@ big maps put them in a reset rotation for 1 week and put the small maps on a 3 week rotation. please your killing us here htc cant take the boredom any longer.
-
hear hear
-
When a furball disappears shortly after you get there that means you actually won that furball :p
PS: when that happens it's a good time for territory to change sides.
-
well maybe but when people get shot down on big maps in one sided fights they go elsewhere and the furball dies quickly.
-
there just has to be some map size between 256 and 512
at the very least any new maps should not use the entire 512x512 area.
screw it im building my own ma terrain cant stand the current ones any longer
-
can't say I blame ya. eventually everyone will come to the same realization... the big maps are too big but.... most of all... the real problem with em is that the fields are too far apart. fix that and it won't matter how big they are... the furballers will fight between out of the way fields like in the CT and the strat girls will go milkrun and steamroller undefended fields... everyone will be happy..... except the 30k guys.

I like the big maps.
Never have a problem finding a fight.
Milkruns arent the maps fault, it is because most wont take off at a base that doesnt have a nice big green bar.
Take off near the biggest red bar (green or not) and you will have all the action you need.
Now if you require alot of friendlies around with the hopes of workn a good vulch or to scrap of the bottom feeders .. you are in trouble.
btw.. taking off near the big red bar usually is what starts a good furball as more of your teammates join you.
-
i really like the big maps, much much batter then the smaller ones
-
I'd say to be fair...
2-3 days of each large map followed by a week of the small maps. Otherwise we could spend all week on the same large map...

Yes, I also believe there should be some maps in between as well. Just build it based on 512x512 and then crowd it all into the center with alot of empty water, or flat ground around the outside.
Of course this means someone might take all night and fly the parimeter of the map, under dar, to sneak a feild or bomb HQ, But thats OK with me.
Good Luck on this, I know BulletHead was working toward the same goal.
Lastly, What do you mean you cant find any good fights? What about the one you had working with me the other night? You claimed it was one of your best ever.. That was on Big Isles.
(congrads on that 262 kill with your peefiftyonebee <---lazs speak)

hehe fester,, good luck making one. I would like to see some of the combat theater maps put into rotation in the MA. They would rock in the MA. Some of the best maps Ive seen have been in there. I love the snow one.

I've noticed furballs w/ rooks are hardly fun compared to the ones w/ knights.. With knights most of us are between deck and 10k with the usual number of cherry pickers on both sides.. With rooks its almost the exact opposite.. They'll have a few that are willing to get down and dirty in furball but they'll just get horded by the mass of bish under 10k while the mass of rooks are circling around at 15-20k waiting for some unexpecting prey.. And the ones that screw up somehow with their alt advantage just end up running so its almost pointless to me to even engage 1 of the alt monkeys.. I find this boring and usually end up finding something else to do..
Yep why I like fighting bish. 10k is plenty and dont really have to worry about a bounce. Almost like someone made a alt cap rule. If see a dar bar in rook territory ya gotta take off 2 sectors away to be coalt with em. That or get someone to go low and watch 5 25k guys dive on the poor guy while your climbin :D

gimme a break mia... when you're in the MA it's at 25K.
Get out of this thread. poser.

another HUGE problem w/ some of the big maps, big isles specifically: If there is a fight at a couple of bases, the strat girls will pork the fuel at the base and all surrounding bases so you can't get to the fight, which then quickly peters out. Strat weenies have it made, I'm in disbelief that HT developed an A2A game with this kind of game play in mind. Why not just play "Risk" instead?
-
I totally disagree with Citabria on this idea. The big maps allow teams the time to come up with counter strategies that could not happen on the smaller maps. The best fights I had this month happened in the last three days.

Yep thats true too. Fuel dead furball goes away. and Steve Im only at 25k when your around. and you still can run so I gave up on chasing 51s;)

Holy crapola! I hope that something else wasn't flying AH! 257 hours this tour! And I thought my 58 hours was excessive.
I find that all countries have a core of in-the-weeds furballers, but no country has a bigger Astronaut Corps than the Bishops.
Why despair over the high flyers, just go up and get 'em, or bait into coming down. There's nothing quite like stratogeeks to boost your K/D. :)
My regards,
Widewing

How's it going with that 109E4? Checking the stats, it seems you haven't started yet. Probably practising offline. :D

Tour doesn't start til tomorrow!!

Well Beet1e, I flew it one mission. Had an la7 make several passes, then a 262. Finally was engaged by a high spit. The E has few redeeming factors. If I knew how to post a film I'd share it w/ ya. Oh my, what a poor plane. Have you ever actually spent significant time on one, or did you just try to think up the worst plane in the set?
-
It's what I had to fly in Brand-W in the first week of the RPS when my squad was Axis. I once got three kills in a sortie in it. Had to get VERY close, and the guns were VERY marginal - especially with the typical sort of Brand-W connect with my dial-up modem.
If you can't hack it with the E, try the F. That's a much better plane. I'll check your stats when I get back on Saturday, but just now I'm off to meet CPP, and probably Flossy.

Big difference in flyin the E4 in WB's with an rps Beetle....you didn't have late war planes to contend with.....would you fly one now for an entire tour?

At least put the small maps each on a 1 week rotation. I can tolerate the large maps being 1 week each, if only I could look forward to 1 week of each of the small maps.
-
Think about it ....
Was on the other night ...
Bishops - 188
Kinghts - 92
Rooks - 176
We were getting ganged from all sides by both the Bish and the Rooks ... can you imagine what that would be like on a small map with those numbers. At least with the larger maps, there is a possibilty of finding a field to take off from that isn't totally ganged.
The small maps suck, with Mindano being the worst of them all.

No, Rude. I would not. But that's my point about needing to fly a survivalist plane. I'm most likely to run into P51/LA7/Spit ix, and therefore I need a plane that can outrun the LA7 (at a pinch), chase down/fight with a P51, and have a climb rate comparable with the Spit.
It's because of the lack of an RPS in AH that I wondered why you TAS/BK guys favour weed-wackers at 6K. Until I realised that you always fly as a gaggle, never alone. That tells me all I needed to know.
