Post by: B17Skull12 on August 31, 2003, 09:21:41 PM
i was in a p47D30 mission with Fbsmokey and a few otheres couple days ago. after destroying a FH i have 3 behind me at about 1.5k and some others futher than that. so i do a high yo yo and come out of a small stall about 10 feet about the ground. "host:you have shot dowb scatcat 1#" "host:you have shot down XXX 2#". trhen i check my 6..............no la7 or spit that was following me. then i start LMAO cause i realized they augered tryin to follow my high yo yo. then i get shot down by DFaw59. now was that luck or just good A.C.M?

Sorry skull that one didnt go as planed. One I had the day before really kicked ass. Had 8 pilots lost 3 but landed em all together. I had 4 myself and others had some more. Was a really fun one though.  I like putting fighter sweep missions up. Sometimes i do the base attack ones too.

Most fun i have in my jug is when you wing up with one or max 2 others and do sweeps deep inside enemy territory and try to use some real wingman tactics.

thats what i like to do in my sweeping missions but too many guys will hit the deck to fast and get jumped. Then another will try to help him then he will get slow and there goes 2 pilots there. It is fun though when ya got guys that know SA and the jug. One of my sweeps we took up 109 G10s. Think about 5 or 6 of us. We were at 17k all nice and formed up when we ran into about 10 high p51s that were heavy. That **** turned intense fast. about 5 lost there ord and engaged and the other 5 started diving. The guys that joined my mission were very good guys and used the radio alot to comunicate on whats going on and whos doing what. I only got 2 of them but the good thing was not one of us went down. The 51s tried to rope us but that g10 just hung with the 51s so they went for the deck. Think all 5 of us stuck with em but were shakin and compressing pretty bad. Was a fun one though.

You must not fly around much if that's your best. At least you're having fun though.

Skull's ACM = Air Comedy Maneuvering. ;)

You and Brady should team up, you guys could be the Bonnie and Clyde nightmare of the grammar police! :D

Seriously, you did something completely unexpected and two dweebs flew right into the ground trying to react to it. WTG. Like the saying goes, if ya can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullchit. And yes, it IS often better to be lucky rather than good. Just like the time I evaporated your 109, only to collide with the wreckage (FM-2s are a bit slow to roll at 500 mph ;)). You got the kill, and any way you can get 'em, they still count.

My regards,

Widewing

A famous british pilot of a fairey swordfish (Charles Lamb) was attacked by two italian fighters in the mediteranean.

The swordfish was actually so slow that it became a weapon to use!

Apparently the two Macchi 202's dived at high speed for his 6oc position. he immediately dove for the sea almost vertical and then pulled up and left violently, so much so the gunner was almost tipped out! (held in by a wire chord!)
The two 202 pilots eager for their easy kill tried to pull up to get solution and apparently stalled at high speed and crashed into the sea! BOTH together.Luck ? or just a very astute pilot trick? :) Id vote for a skilled pilot myself as he apparently used the move often with good results :)

If you want to read about it buy 'war in a stringbag' by Charles Lamb. A great read.
