Title: Man in a box over river Thames with no food for 44 days
Post by: davidpt40 on September 01, 2003, 05:25:04 PM

This guy is going to live in a plexiglass box with no food for 44 days.  He will drink only tap water.

Being trapped in a box for 44 days is bad enough in itself, but having no food will make it even more boring.  I say he won't make it a week.

What an attention potato. Money down says he fails.  If he succeeds in not giving up, he's likely to die, so he fails again. I remember a famous IRA terrorist(not famous enough for me to remember though) went on a hunger strike back in the 70s or 80s.  I think he lasted 4 weeks or so then gave up the ghost.

I hope he dies.  Sorry to be blunt, uncaring, un-PC.  Bleh.  FU David Blaine.

Anyone attempting death defying things should expect the possibilty of death.

Hope he dies.

This guy is mentioned in the article.  He died on the 66th day.  Thats over 2 months with no food.

Ok, that was a long time ago, in a country far, far away.  But yes, Bobby Sands is the name.

Thought it was just a little over a month. Oh well.

Doesn't change my opinion of Blaine.

David Blaine is a magician .....  It's a trick....

He didn't cut off his ear at the news conference either...

Finally...someone gets it! The guy can "float in air" as well....doesn't mean he's from Krypton.

As the article says, he spent 3 days inside an ice block back in 2000 - I recently saw a TV programme where the secret to how he accomplished it was revealed.... I suspect something similar will be done this time too.  :)

It'll be from the smell inside the box that kills him...and the flies.

Ewwwww  bad visions......

He's a really good magician. Anyone ever see his street magic special on TV? Incredible stuff.

Don't leave us hanging.  How did he do it?

Sorry, can't remember the exact details, but it involved a secret opening in a block which was not all solid ice, and the use of a double while he ate and slept, etc.  The temperature inside the block was actually quite warm.  :)

I can think of many other magicians I'd rather see locked in a box for 44 days without food. That Copperfield fella for one, or Paul Daniels. In their case I'd make it more 'magical' and remove the water and air holes ;)

lol Trikky. Paul Daniels would get my vote. Although he is quite funny in the person. :)
