Post by: DiabloTX on September 01, 2003, 08:51:54 PM
If you've ever wondered what anamorphic widescreen was, here is the place to visit.

I love what they use as an example to show the various widescreens.

Thanks for sharing that find.  I'm salivating for one of those big wide thin screen HDTVs, but at $5k to $9k ... not in this lifetime.

Interested presentation, but I can't help but wonder, why not simply broadcast the original image rather than cropping and expanding?  It would seem kinda like flying in AH with your zoom constantly enabled.

Because people who don't know better think that when they watch the letterbox version of a film that the top and bottom are being cut off.

"Gosh dangit, I paid a thousand dollars for this here TV, and your movie done only fills part of the middle of the screen!  What sort of them there shenanigans is you trying to pull?"

LMFAO!!!  If only I had a dollar for every time I have heard that.  I actually heard one bluehair say, "I don't know why they even make letterbox, you can't see the movie!!"
