I see that I will soon need to leave my old pal 98SE for a newer hose. So I'd appreciate your input/suggestions on the subject, please.
I'm fairly savvy on PC's, but limited on network knowledge. I've got a laptop, and a desktop I wouldn't mind introducing to each other, But it won't happen if I have to buy the same OS software TWICE or more for use by ME in MY house, and on MY PCs. (Prolly eliminates XP, huh?)
Another thing is my "Trusty Thrusty" Setup. I wanna keep my Stick Works chipped SWF22-Pro, SWTQS, and RCS. But they require a PCI Gameport (ie: SB Live! X-Gamer), and I thought I heard something about XP or Win 2k not allowing this. (true?).
TIA
S!

Why leave?

Or, Dual boot setup. I believe yuou are correct bout 2000/XP gameport devices unless you can get them to work through a USB adapter.

LOL! "Why leave?" (Indeed!)... It's 'Lack of support'. 98 has reached the point of being 'dated', Just like all others that have gone before it.
Sadly; Mindgrosoft, (and OS' in general, I s'pose), would rather change entirely instead of progressively improve. Maybe they should be called OS "DISCARDS" instead of OS "UPGRADES".
As for those USB adapters, I tried one and wasn't impressed... Too limiting, and flakey. (Maybe they'll improve in time).
Hopefully, some whiz kid will create a gameport driver for win 2k soon.
Thanks

I am using my old TM gear with the Stick Works chip on a PC with XP. It works fine. You need to get the XP software from the Stick Works web page. The PC has a game port.
