All my friends like it, but I can not stand it, going to a game in person is not so bad, but not something I would want to pay for. Watching it on tv is so sweet boring I can not stand it.
-
You don't like Football?
PUNT!
-
I love football, cannot stand baseball.
-
Did you ever play either competetively? (just asking, I think it helps to have a frame of reference when watching sports)

Well at least you own guns and drive a big fuel guzzling car. Otherwise I'd fear for you.... :)
-
I would rather watch TV or just about anything then watch football, or just about any sport really.
Not that I watch TV, lol we do not have cable nor an antena, so it's movies on DVD.
Maybe it comes from when I was a kid and hating having my cartoons taken off for stupid boring games? My dad hated them as well, so maybe it is partly that... heheh
-
MT nope, just like weekend stuff with the guys in the mud, and playing is ok, I just hate watching it.
-
Grun,
I was at a "friend" of the families when I was like 14 and he asked, what sports I played, and I said "None" and he looked at me funny and then asked "what are you weird or something"
I laughed at him this guy was such an ultra melon his oldest son had to move out and pay for his own College cause his dad thought college was a waste of money, and he should just work for him (contractor).

There will come an age where playing football is not an option ;)
-
Being the liberal pinko that I am, I never forced my kids to play sports either. I think that was a mistake now. There is soooo much to learn from that kind of competition.

I'm with you.

Don't like football? You will report immediately to the Ripsnort Reeducation Camp for UnAmerican Behavior!
Seriously, something is very wrong with you if you don't like football. I suspect repressed homosexuality, or maybe you're just a Commie!
-
I can see that MT, my dad never stopped me, more I just never wanted to. Hell I spent so much time reading in my teens, I didnt want anything to take time from that! Hell in school on lunch I would go to the area you where not supposed to be in and read, lol tell I got caught by an ultra melon of a vice pricipal. who gave me a saterday for being in the wrong place Reading!
I would not try and discourage my kids from it if I had any, It made me an oddball on more then one ocasion, lol never a good thing as a kid.

Hmmm Dr Phil and Dr Ruth would have a blast with you. Do ya think maybe that the guns and muscle car is compensating for some hidden, repressed feelings of.... never mind...Freak!

I'm totally ambivalent about football, and have grown to absolutely hate baseball. On TV, in person, playing or watching.
Something to do with being a Red Sox fan when young. :(
FWIW, I love golf, but cannot stand watching it on TV.
-
I'm not a big fan of either myself.

I feel your pain.

GtoRA2,
I don't care much for them either. I used to watch football but after 2 strikes and countless examples of less than socially acceptable behavior by a large percentage of players I decided it just wasn't worth my time to waste on their stupid "game". It's not about the game of football anymore. That went out with the likes of Johnny Unitis.
Baseball never has had much attraction to me either. It is on par with golf as a spectator sport in my opinion.
I do enjoy mechanized sports such as auto racing though I have reached a point in my life that I fall asleep at the drop of a hat and if the race isn't exciting I miss most of it.
If my father had forced sports on me I would have hated the sport and him for doing it to me. He not only never forced me but didn't really show much interest in whether I did it or not. I have always hated running.
I don't think you are weird, but then again most of the people on this board may think I'm weird too :D.
-
I think everyone should play a sport... team or individual. Good for ya on many levels.
Had a high school coach who thought Dean Smith's conditioning program at UNC was the thing to do. He damn near killed us, but you know what? I lived, and now I am proud to have survived that SOB's tyrranical rule.
Every kid should learn his or her physical limitaions and that ain't gonna happen without a coach.

STONE HIM!!!!! STONE HIM!!!!!

Mark, I agree. Used to love watching feetball, but when it ceased being a sport, I quit.
I still like college football though. Although, they keep trying to make it more like pro every year. Dang it!
Never liked baseball. Just flat boring.
Oh,.played both in school and for many years was a pitcher in softball leagues.
-
Used to like baseball, but can't care less about it after the strikes.
-
Watched Bears football religiously through the 1970s (at least there was Walter :)) and 1980s. Played football 6th grade through HS. Loved the sport but started to lose interest when it became hard to keep track of the players from season to season.
Always hated baseball, in person or on TV. The best I can say is Wrigley is a good place to drink some overpriced beers in the summer. BTW I am taking a bus trip to Milwaukee tomorrow to watch the Cubs/Brewers -- just going for the party with 50 friends with a baseball game in the background.
In general, pro sports in the age of the boring millionaire celebrty athlete is a bore for me. Hard to really care all that much.
BTW, what demographic is the NFL going for with all the Brittney Spears promotions. Couldn't be 14-year old boys (should already be in the audience); 14 year old girls -- that's a stretch. Middle aged pervs? :)

There are other sports besides Hockey?
-
"Used to like baseball, but can't care less about it after the strikes."
Same here. And I've never liked watching football at all. Playing it sure.
And to go further I feel the same about basketball. IMO that's even more boring than football. Much like watching tennis
Hockey is the only sport I might watch a regular season game on t.v. And even that doesn't draw me much anymore. Well, ever since they made them wear helmets and begun to lay heavy fines and penalites for fighting ;) I'm pretty much tired of "pro" sports all around.
Oh! I don't own a gun. Don't mind if you do. But I do have a V8 powered muscle car in the garage, hate quiche and I have no effing idea what the recipe for boiling water is.

LoL we do not need to defend our straitness to a bunch of guys who like watching other guys run around in tight clothes and touch each others as$'s!

Give me F1 over football/baseball or any other kind of sport anyday! DC in particular..... :D

I used to play HS football, it was alright but really all the practices before a game sucked all the fun out of it. I'd much rather play a pick-up game in the neigborhood. the main reason to ply HS ball is the girls but between ball, working, and chores I didn't have the time or energy to take advantage of it, quit the next year and found a treasure trove of girls who felt neglected by their ball player boyfriends (plus you never really had to spend any cash because you couldn't go anywhere really public because the BF might hear about it)
all my kids played little leauge, I enjoy watching my kids play (I'd watch kids play over pro's any day of the week). but baseball was never as fun as going to the kids golden gloves tournys.
basicly unless I'm playing myself (and even most of the time then) or watching my kids play, any sport with a ball bores the hell out of me. live isn't so bad you can just kinda get caught up in the excitement of the crowd (still nothing I'd pay for, only go when I get free tickets)
but no way in hell I could waste an hour or 2 watching guys play a game on tv. these guys get a stupid amount of cash and they produce nothing, nobodys life would signifigantly change if they all vanished, yet people hang on every detail of their life as if they where important.
sports are fun, hunting, fishing, boating, dirtbike, scuba, snorkling, hicking camping.
to me most sports involving a ball are just oversized board games, I might as well be watching some guy play pro monopoly.
-
I don't do stick and ball, unless it is in person, in which case it could well be monkey's playing-I'm there for the people watching.

I can't stand watching any sport on TV, nomatter what it is its boring as hell. I used to play football fairly regularly as well as beach volleyball. Playing sports is fun as hell, as well as good exercise. However, watching someone else play sucks.

HS Basketball > NCAA > NBA
College Football > NFL
That's how I feel anyway...

I could not agree more! Obviously not liking the game of football is a sign of repressed homosexuality. Let’s just take a quick look at the game… In an arena where more men pat each other on the butts than anywhere else… Going on the field, coming off the field, after a good play, in order to improve each other’s team spirit… Let’s face it they can’t keep their hands off each other… The star of the game, the quarterback spends an unbelievable amount of time with his hands thrust between the ass-cheeks of another player trying to grab a ball. It’s all so Freudian…From the “Tight end” to the “Wide receiver” there are no hidden feelings being repressed in this sport.
-
Don know those sports well enough to hate em. What i do HATE tho is soccer.....looks kinda gayish to me.
-
"LoL we do not need to defend our straightness to a bunch of guys who like watching other guys run around in tight clothes and touch each others as$'s!"
:D So true!! And they give themselves big man-hugs after every play? Whatswiddat?! This bellybutton touching and Lola embraces are just too much.
Oh. Did I mention I love watching women's beach volleyball on ESPN!!??

American football, baseball and basketball all suck
Decent Football (soccer) teams and Rugby are much better.
-
football is boring.
well.. ok a few of the hits are fun to watch but the whole game is boring..
now Hockey on the other hand...
-
If you named a team I couldn't tell you if it was a football, baseball or.... worse.... basketball team.. don't know the names of any of their "athletes" or at least, can't put a face with a name.
would play tennis with someone rather than watch 5 minutes of a game on tv or in person. I played tennis in hs and boxed. I boxed after hs a little. Raced autocross and dragraced... don't watch those on TV either..I would rather go shooting or help you with your house repairs or car stuff anyday. I would watch a mediocre movie rather than the most touted superbowl.
It really confuses women who try to impress me with how much they know and enjoy sports.

Funny you should bring that up MT... I played in levis and t shirt and hi top converse or engineer boots. Or... if it was during gym... gym clothes...I was told I couldn't be n the "team" if I didn't wear the uniform... I thought that was pretty funny. I mean... the guy thought it was a threat! Never could figure out what some people think.
did you know that taunting your opponent in tennis is considered bad form? go figure.

Hi-top Converse... sigh.....
Used to get a pair for free every Basketball season. I always kept one pair for indoor play and one for outdoor play. Always white (I think they came in black and red too back then).
My senior year our Coach decided we should have bright red shoe laces on our Converse'. He said it would look like blood. After the first game all it did was turn all of our shoes pink.

I think it’s hilarious when parents say they don’t “force” their kids to play sports. Do you “force” your child to go to school?? It feels like I do every morning. Organized team sports like football and baseball teach a child about team work and discipline more than school ever will.
If you don’t force your child to play sports, you have a problem. If they don’t like it, explain it to them, talk to them about it and help them out just like you would for school.
However, if you feel it is easier just to plop your child down next to PS2 on the weekend until their skin is transparent, go ahead. Just don’t act surprised when your kid marches through his school with a 9mm offing the jock kids that tease him.
As for not liking football…. Go to park and read your poetry and stay away from me… you’re boring and not interesting.
Wow… did I really have to go off like that!? Hehe… Go BUCS!!!!!
