This is really starting to get bad for the knights, you can call this a whine all you like, but its really starting to get frustrating. I log on today, to see knights with 40 bases, and down by 40 players against rook and bish. Its like this everyday, I have yet to log on and see knights with numbers atleast 10 people from bish in nearly 2 weeks! Now the rooks are really starting to get numbers, and right now, in the MA, its Bish with 150, rook with 140, and knit with 90. There has to be some way to even it out, maybe send the newer players to knit for a while, if the newer players want to join rook/bish, they can always do that freely, but im sure some of them will stay knit and even the numbers just a tad bit.

ruh roh, here we go again.

Rooks had this for about a year.
My squad went from Bish to Rook to help balance things.
Try asking some receptive CO to move his squad over. You never know your luck.

Thanks, you're a whiner. Now, please take all the rook pilots you need. I suck, so I don't have many perk points, and I'd like us to be low on #s again.

Knits are the AH redheaded step children

Yup, flying for Knights can be an excercise in frustration, especially when Bish & Rooks are hammering both fronts. Yet I've seen the Knights rally, organize and kick bellybutton against some serious numbers.
Perhaps we can take a clue from the Rooks, organize some combined squad ops on, say, Sunday nights. Meahwhile I'll continue to enjoy my 20 pt Tempest :)

This is absolutely one of the stupidest and most hypocritical things people whine about. Why? Well, it is very simple. People whine when they have low numbers. That is a given. What is stupid about the whole thing is that they don't do anything about when they have a huge number advantage.
This ranks up there with the gangbang whines:
Knit: Why do the bish and rooks always attack us?
Rook: Why do the knits and bish always attack us?
Bish: Why do the rooks and knits always attack us?
And who can forget the classic bishrook/knitrook/bishknit gangbanging hordes and conspiracy to deprive the other team of the win?
Numbers and gangbanging are going to happen. When? Anytime one side loses bases to both of the other teams. Where? In the minds of those who lose those bases.
Guys, get a grip, there is complete and total truth to the statement that it happens to each side. You all know this. You have seen it. You have taken part in it. The problem is that you refuse to aknowlege it until it is your team's time in the hole.

This is the Knight's turn to be low on numbers.
Times ago Rooks were low on numbers and they were crying loud.
I dont remember Bishes to be low , but... maybe their turn will come:D
Its a loss of time whining and crying , just try to organize, play a clever mission planning, dont disperse on many fronts and wait...time will change things....and maybe this can be fine to have a better organization in flying;)
Whining is futile...
Ehmmm...I'm a knight for your knowledge:D
-
At least with the modo maps the team i the bucket has a place to take off from. Anyone else rememeber the endless 2 bases, no FH, caped by 50+ enemy that went on for almost an entire day (and happened more than once).
Ahhh the memories
-
Nits, just fly late war Luftwaffe planes and consider the gangbang a historical recreation :)
-
I fly knight, and it's a bit frustrating at times, but we've got the bad corner of the map, and although we're hurting pretty bad, we haven't been rolled yet (unless it happened sometime early this morning). I think this is improving the knight's coordination and teamwork, and I definitely think our pilots are getting a lot better in the face of overwhelming odds. When numbers are even, our borders expand on all fronts, and unless we're outnumbered more than two to one, it's not easy to take our bases anywhere.
-
Rooks were horribly down in numbers when I started flying the MA. It was generally accepted that rook pilots, due to the large numbers disadvantage, had more of an opportunity to improve as pilots. While you may get shot down a lot, you can learn to survive in this environment, and you'll get better because of it(especially your SA).
So think of it as a chance to improve. Don't jump ship, don't waste your breath whining. Fly, and get better along with your outnumbered countrymates. Eventually knits will adapt and get more numbers, and the ones who went through the low times will be much better pilots for it.
Or like Rstr said, you can fly the late war German birds and think of it as a historical recreation. It's what I'm doing :)
-
Last night was a classic example. Being hit at a small base by 2 fronts for about 2-3 hours. WE kept upping 262's because they were cheap and the rooks gave us a lot of targets. Even when the rooks sent 3 262's after me and tarmacs 262's they found out they needed to bring more :D Was a hell of a lot of fun and I like flying on the disadvantaged side on these big maps

This has happened to every side since Ive been here.It all comes down to who wines about it the most.Just deal with it for now and very soon you will be on the overwhelming side and when you are, please remember that you were on here making an issue out of it and dont bust the chops of those that start a thread somewhat similar.Out numbered means plenty of targets

Yes it happens to all sides, well... not really. The Knights have always had this problem, it's just gotten out of hand in the last months. But this will always be a problem and very hard to deal with. HiTech's perk allocation has been about the best answer I've seen.
But to me the problem isn't the numbers disparity, but that it has such a profound affect on the game of capture the arena.
Mass attacks to capture bases depend only on having enough players available to overwhelm the opposition. If arena capture wasn't the focus, players could move to an area with fewer enemy. But when the mass porkage is arena wide, there's no escaping the mobs. And with numbers being so important, players on the underdog side are more apt to switch to the winning side compounding the problem.
The result is a country constantly stripped down to a few bases and forced into a corner of the arena to be fed on by the masses. This is the problem.

He whose HQ is porked will have the least #s.
If it's any consolation IHham, I was with the squad last night rollin Bish after their HQ went down.

The best thing to do is to up a early war plane like the Hurri 1 or spitv or Spit 1 and watch your perkies climb :)
There are always fat targets diving into your base and all it takes is a couple killz in one of those planes to double or triple your perks

Blame it on the AK's. I do. But then, I blame them for just about everything anyway. :p
I remember back when Rookland was in the crapper on numbers, one of the AK's coming on here to see if a large squadron would consider moving to Rook to help balance the numbers.
Funny how they stayed Bish, tho.
Maybe the AK's should jump to Knights now to balance the numbers.

I read in the WSJ today how the latest financial analysis points to the AKs as the cause for the recent economic downturn.

Selective Memory.
I've been playing for about a year and a half. In that time, I've seen the bishops dominate, and the bishops in the hole, the knights dominate, and the knights in the hole, the rooks dominate, and the rooks in the hole.
Arena numbers seem to be based more on a teams momentary success than on which team it is. Lose your HQ? Expect to lost a lot of players. Down to 3 bases? Of course you're outnumbered 3 to 1 now. On a rampage taking another countries bases? Expect your numbers to go up.
Numbers follow success, not the other way around. During prime time without a reset imminent no team has few enough players for this to not be true.

Come on Knits....the whinin light is NOT lit!!!
Have you noticed a lot of former knits have left knitland and moved to ruks or bish? I guess they figured if you can't beat them join them.
But........
Have you ever noticed when numbers get even a little close to even the Knits start taking names and kicking booty?
It takes that many numbers just for them to take a few fields. Besides, you have more targets. Especially those yella, turn coat, commie pinko's that put their tails between their legs and jumped ship! ROFL

Ive seen the bish in the hole for more than a couple days.A week at a time last time.GRANTED the bish seem to have the most numbers at the majority of times but let me clue yas in on something. When was the last time ya saw bish hordes on the BBS crying about it?:) :)
Bish may be overwhelming in numbers at times, but they sure dont wine about it when it cames back around.

I've been playing more or less constantly for almost two years, and I've yet to see it "come back around" on the bish. Not for the months at a time you see with Rooks and Knights, anyway.
Call me silly, but I really doubt there's a lot of difference between the countries.
In any event, I was quite proud of the resistance the Knits put up at A9 tonight. Three hard waves of rooks repelled. When I quit to get some work done they were mounting a half-hearted fourth wave against us. Granted, eventually we were going to loose it (rooks only had knights slighly outnumbered, but our perk bonus was 1.81 when I left, so we were going to get spanked in the end) but we made bloody work of it :)

Seriously.I know the bish have the better hand most times, but what amazes me is that the bish dont cry about it when there in the hole.Ive NEVER swapped countries except one night to help the rooks as a squad opp of sorts.Knits and Rooks get the short end of the stick more than average by all means.Rooks more than Knits. Its not even close.I just like the fact the bish dont complaign when it get ugly for us.Shows class.

When it gets ugly for you, it's due to lack of skill, not lack of numbers. ;)

Selective memory?? Hardly. Yes, I have seen the bish in the barrel...for a few hours...for a day. But, never more than a weekend. I'm talkin' bout being in the barrel long enough to claim squatter's rights. This something I have not seen happen to Bishland.
I'm not complaining. I just thought it was interesting :)

Of course bish don't complain when they are in the hole for a whole 2 days... Rooks and knits don't either.
Should add I am only basing this on US Prime times like the majority of the rest of you I assume.
What happens at other hours of the day does not concern me...
I'm guessing its Rook's turn next
I don't see bish squads off to knits... just Rook squads... (could be mistaken)

13th TAS is a bishop Squad. 308th was a Rook squad; so two squads have left to bolster the Knights.
More interesting question is why have the Knight numbers declined? Why have squads left or become inactive? Basically, yes over the last two months the Knight numbers have declined but they have dropped roughly down parity level with the Rooks or just slightly below.
Bishops still field the most numbers on average.

The reduction in numbers probably results from a random over-time process. It just so happens that Knights are on a downswing cycle right now, and given that the overall arena numbers remain about the same as before the reduction represents a zero-sum process. That is, a reduction in Knight numbers necessarily means an increase in Bishop or Rook numbers (not just because people switch sides, but also because some players stop playing and new players replace them on other teams).
Maybe Knight numbers have been out of equilibrium (that is, too high) for awhile, so the downward trend represents a movement toward the equilibrium number of players. :)

-
Historically, since the inflow of players from trouble at WB and the demise of AW, the Knights team has been relatively low in numbers. Typically the Bish have always been highest and the Rooks about the same or lower. It hasn't been too bad, but our numbershave been on a decline since the Bish learned to work together to win resets. That's when the migration started.
Actually, since Trinity came up, things haven't been so bad. Sure, we've been constantly low in bases, but not so bad that it's messed up the game. And the Bish and Rooks seem to be fighting more with each other. I've been a happy bear =o)
-
Grizzly,
Hate to disagree with you but until recently the Rooks have never had the same numbers as the Knights on the average per CAMP. There have been days when we mustered strong, dominant numbers .. especially during RJOs. We have been gaing strength but overall the Bishops have had the most numbers (although worst performance K/D as a country) the Knights have been in the middle and the Rooks have been on the bottom tier
Here is an excel sheet that shows the Kills and Deaths for the countries per camp going back to the beginning.
http://www.dgideon.org/countries.xls
RJO squads started tracking this way back when to see if there was any validation to the belief we had low numbers but did well despite it.
But the Knights have never had an overwhelming advantage of numbers on us. The Bishops on the other hand seemed to have a much larger pilot pool than either country but also overall does the worst in K/D for the country.
But enough debating for debating's sake .. I hope this is just a glitch for you guys. I know your pain and how frustrating it can get. Just get stubborn and dig in.
-
I agree with Leviathn to an extent .. too early to tell if its a trend or just a random event. Squads could just be less active these past few months as the summer ends .. or less time to fly or just taking a break until AH2 finally comes out.
Or it could be a trend where squads are migrating out or dissolving. I will admit I have seen more squads on the Rook side that I don't know recently.

I know part of the imballance is people going to other sides, but I wonder how it all started. When I started in 2001 the teams were pretty much even with the rooks on the short end most of the time.I guess when people join if they know other people in the game there going to join that side.Everyone likes to be on the winning side. The perk change has done some to help, but not enough.Maby if the new people were sent to the side with the lowest numbers overall on and off line,it might help to even things out.

Thanks GhostDancer, but things are ok with the Knights. Sure is a lot of action, and the perk lovers are getting their fair share even without resets... more. We are content with not winning the arena, most don't even try. All the players who need to be on the winning side have already left. All we ask is for a place to play. It's only sometimes that we can't find one. I don't know why so many other players hate us and call us names, we try our best to put up a good fight. It ain't easy being green <=o(
