Lol, and being able to shoot down pixel players garners so much respect.
No offence Clit, but damn it's ironic. :)
Some people are good at the obvious, some excel through practise.

darn no image found .... after you sign up there besure you upload so the image is for public display . (not private )
upload pic .... then open the pic scroll down and you will see three urls
one for bullitin boards {img http festers map img }
one for a url type link {the normal http//festers map.8277364}
and for auction message boards {this one make the pic really small}
i use the second one for urls and insert into the img button up there ....
it took me a few times to figure it out to ...
Edit.... it must have been bigger the 1 mb too .... it missed my mail box ...

Looks like Trinity without the vehicle bases in the middle. What am I missing?

the only thing not show in the map is the Carrier groups which each country will have 1 or 2 on each flank depending on field limits.
the center Base will be owned most likely by the southeast country since that side gets gangbanged often in most other maps. it is a 10k base right in the center for everyone to fight over.
only other really high bases are about two 6-7k fields behind HQ
gv bases for gv war has 8 gv bases on each side for a constant gv war that is a few miles separated from the airfields though still in reach by them after a short flight from some airfields
am going to proceed with more detailed elevation bitmaps and colage them together to create a good rolling terrain look tht is functional and looks good
comments and suggestions and what to change what to keep would be greatly appreciated.
-
Having another look at it...are the airfields closer to each other?
SOB

The Poop Map?
-
yeah creamo perfect title for it
agreed SOB, wasnt intentional but when I started designing this map it was with three equal land masses for each country and setting it up that way makes it similar.
hopefully the difference with this MA will be that the front is very narrow with heavy action in the center,
the sides of each country are accesible by carrier attack, GV attack and a narrow run of airfields along each coast.
I've been trying to figure out why in the current MA's 512 size there can be 200 people online and no fighting.
the conclusion I've reached so far is that there is just too many bases too far apart.
if anything this map might have even fewer bases than currently shown.
-
SOB the airfield distances are the same as mindanao in most places, its hard to tell because there is no grid map on the pic.
12 miles apart for quite a few but average abotu 20 miles apart
-
Well below the "V" it has a smiling gorrilla with a pug nose, so run with a new name.
-
I don't know about the no fights in the current maps thing, but CVs always mean a good fight...so any maps with CVs and a lot of bases by shore is a good thing in my book.
-
That'd certainly be original and make for some interesting CV battles, as CV groups navigate the rivers and inevitably cross paths.

think sob
why are the fights so good by Carriers hanging a few miles off shore?
-
Sweet love the idea of the river cutting the map up.

its turning into pizza without the puke colour and high middle
-
if you cut it up with a wide cv capable "river " is there gonna be offset gv spawn points on each side of it ??? and instead of one field on the center isle ... you place 3 air bases .
-
dunno bout the cv in the center idea, maybe use that on the next map :)
it just looks to much like pizza that way...
hell I think if I did that river thing I would call this the G-string map

Well, it could be that...or it could be that once the carrier is in a position to attack a field, several pile-its up from it and prompt a responce from the other team. I honestly don't know if it's either, both, or neither of those things that make it a good fight.

All I see is a G-String....
squint if you have too....looks like a chic sitting there? does it not?
I LIKE IT!!!!!:D

The Buttocks map ..... I like the river Idea .. needs more.

looks like the shrink sneezed on his ink blot test :)

Actually, I think it looks like the southern parts of England :o

very nice fester:)

Flux capacitor map!! ;)

I like the idea of narrow waterways that will support cv's leading to the center of the map...I can see now playing chicken with cv groups as the guns all fire at each other...if narrow waterways make the bases too close from the base, simply move the airfields back a couple miles. This will help the lvt's also.
A wish of mine would be a little more higher alt terrain. The higher alt brings in a whole new field of play for some plane types, which I feel just makes things more interesting. Just got gangbanged by 5 la7's and sick of it? hey go grab a p51b at the higher terrain. Just my ideas =)
-
Rivers a great idea, PT runs on a base in WW2online were a hoot.
I hope there is a dedicated area for furballers? You know, 5k hardened bases 10 miles apart with super winds or killer 88mm at 10k.
Just a thought.

I don't care what you call it.... I like it if the field spacing is as you say... Oh... seems like the two bottom countries can't attack each other with cv's.

I like the 2 narrow strands of bases on the coastline and just inland of each front. Nice narrow fronts make for good gameplay imo. There's also the wider 2 or 3 wide front near the center of the map for variety. It looks promising.
-
you rock you airbatic dweeb :)
-
Looks good,
My only thought...
Narrow fronts may seem to give good gameplay but....
Usually they just end up causing a stalemate. Just a huge furball, that only the team with the biggest numbers can push through and even then it takes luck...
Narrow fronts..? may as well make it a 256x256 map...
Seriously..

I actually thought it was supposed to be southern england lol, just a terrible translation.
-
Fester,
Very good start on the map!
I want to suggest something to help with the cv's. Include a lake in the center of each homeland with rivers to various points. Perhaps two or three ports can be located in these lakes.
Just for fun I included also an airfield in the center of each lake to help defend the ports.
If a part of a map is being overrun then a sneaking cv can come up from behind the conquers and re-take a base or two stealthily. Or just help to defend a base under attack.
Also imagine sneaking a cv into an enemy lake :)
Anyway, pictures are worth more than words, so here ya go...

Looks promising, particularly after the addition of water-features.

Fester
on taking the time to build a map and looking for feedback from the group.
Drunky, I really like the idea of the centre lakes and think it's a good addition. As it's something different to any other map. Be interesting to see how the gameplay/strat would evolve with having those lakes. That's if they can be fit into the map with sufficent size to be made useful for CV's.
Plus it makes the map look totally different from Eternity or Pizza. Or the south west of England for that matter. LOL

im not gonna use the cv stuff in the center, I would but Ive already finished the elevation map before and it was a lot of work getting it to look good but when I build another MA map it will be focused on CV wars entirely with islands close together and many many carrier groups.
-
looks pretty nice Fester I have one suggestion though. How about adding a few more cv's so we can get some more of that cv battle going on without needing another map dedicated to it? Maybe 4-5 per side per water body? Would be interesting to combine fleets and have a serious battle or two.
-
its limited by total field numbers on the carriers,
without cv's or ports each country has 72 fields (1 country has the 10K a1 field in the center for 73)
so the limit is 255 total bases (85 per country) so I can have a maximum of 6 carriers per side (3 per water body) but supposedly there is a 111 boat limit on carrier ships and 6 fleets per side puts the total number of ships at 108. if its possible to delete the useless litle escort ships im going to do so just because I hate them so my cv groups would be two battleships and a carrier and no useless dweeb ships. dunno if htc will allow this variation or not they seem pretty strict on MA field layout standards.
I'm planning for each body of water and each country to have 1 carrier group 4 bases back on each shoreline and the two other carrier groups in reserve a ways further back from the front so they arive at the action at different times. one or both of these carriers ports is going to have a spawn point from a hard to capture friendly base right next to its town so that that country will have a carrier throughout most of the war right up till a reset if they are the loosing side. but ive not decided yet on that its still being planned out.
the entire maps elevation mapping is finished and the entire southeastern country has all its bases (except cv/ports) and strat facilities installed. details like roads trains convoys have not been added yet.
I would like to use mindanao's texture maps for the terrain if there available because I want to have this map submitted to HTC as soon as possible and designing new texture maps that look anywhere as good as mindanao's takes a lot of time on top of all the other time needed to design and build the terrain.
if this map works good I'm going to build an Island/carrier map with maximum number of carriers in it which would mean deleting most of the little boats again but thats a good thing :)
-
ARGH have to wait till AH2 because the terrain system is changing with it. HTC said be best to get it planned out and wait for new terrain editor system.
was good practice so far though. I'm tempted to finish it quickly without any gv spawns convoys or trains and just toss it to HTC for the MA as a test of the design layout of the terrain until ah2 is out
but the Terrain editor is tedious but enjoyable to use so far cant wait for the changes in AH2 to arive so I can build some more terrains :)
