could be 50mm but hard to figure out size..80mm?

I don't think it is a Jap 97 81mm, the base goes the wrong way and the tube does not seem long enough relative to its diameter, nor does the barrel band hit high enough on it.

The base being oriented that way makes it look like a heavier mortar.  The German 5cm Leichte Granatwerfer 36, the US 4.2 Inch and English heavies orient their bases that way.  

I don't know on that one.

It is, Type II 70mm Mortar.
