I have a 3 month old radeon 9700 pro and it just started acting up.
It gets vertical lines going across the screen. It garbles the whole screen. It doesnt it even in the bios menu before windows even starts, makes reading anything impossible. I can't reinstall any drivers with it, keeps saying "severe error, need to try installing in vga mode. I try that and it says it cant find the inf driver then gives me the same severe error problem.
I switched back to my old gf3 and it works fine.
Is the card bad or think i should reformat?

yep fan is working. Something is broke in the card, either bad memory or something. I can affect the display by wiggling the monitor connection plug. I thought interference but nothing I did fixed it. Guess I can try and RMA it.
So far not a fan of ATI.

:fanboy mode: that could happen to any card.
But seriously RMA it ASAP it's still a great card.

no i agree, when it was working, it was SWEET. Just outa funds now so a new one is unlikely and I bought it OEM, dunno how to RMA it now.
