Title: How many planes have you gotten in ONE vulch pass? No rearms, etc lol
Post by: Urchin on September 10, 2003, 07:03:38 PM: You know, the perfect setup- you've de-acked the field, you are tooling around in lazy circles watching the 3 Flakpansies roll from the VH and all of a sudden PRESTO!

How many have YOU gotten? (by the way, THIS is the true measure of an "ace", none of that hokey A2A **** y'all have been bragging about in the other threads).

I think my personal best is 6, but I don't remember exactly. Either 5 or 6 anyway... a 190A8 can give out a helluva good pounding against planes on the ground :).

Good for flying through a furball and taking snapshots also

I've gotten only 4 in one pass before...3 were buffs and 1 lonely fighter. Probably was in the 190A8 also.

Post by: Ack-Ack on September 10, 2003, 07:14:17 PM: 13 in one vulch pass. Pickled both of my 1,000lb bombs on the runway spawn point and ended up almost taking out an entire mission that had spawned. Only a formation of bombers that had spawned another another runway survived the carnage.

I suck NOW, but then I REALLY sucked.

Three at one end, zipped down, got two more other end, one was a re-upper from the OTHER end.

2- P51s followed by 3 B17s (formation).

Got the 2 P51s as they spawned in and killed the lead bomber just as they lifted, both drones augered and got the proxy on them.

In 190-D9.

I did learn something from that, If you see low alt bombers 500ft or less kill lead bomber other 2 will usally auger in before the pilot transfers over.

Ahh, that takes me back to the old DOS Air Warrior, where I had a similar event, except that mine was a lot more shot full of luck... Back in DOS AW when closing an airfield required that you put 12 bombs on the runway, I was making a bombing run on (IIRC) B80 at an altitude of 30,000'; I'd lined up, made my drop, and was watching for the bomb strikes when this massive string of "A kill has been recorded." messages started flooding my message buffer. Getting a dozen vulch kills from 30,000' is an accomplishment I don't think I'm ever going to get again.

I still get a chuckle thinking about the members of that squad... launching for a mission, then *BOOM* they're back in the briefing room, and when they try to take off again, the field's closed. (and two minutes later, we captured the field anyway, so they were totally SOL there) Sometimes life is good.

Post by: AHGOD on September 11, 2003, 10:52:07 AM: My best was one pass in a 110G2 had 11, I went back for my next pass and got 6 and a nice la7 that was 3k lower then me zoomed and shot me down. Rather fitting. Was on Uteris map on the far west side. Went back next sortie in a 190A8 and promptly got 9 in 1 pass took ack damage and went in one more time and got 5 and landed with 14 with a ton of ammo left but missing parts everywhere.

Post by: icemaw on September 11, 2003, 12:20:39 PM: I remember once a lucky arodo pilot dropped a bomb just as a Marine Air Wing mission upped lucky SOB got like 15 kills with 1 missdropped bomb. Ok not technically a vultch but we had just spawned so I think it counts.

There was NO way I could have taken a shot at them, however at that instant we captured the base and the ack turned on the aircraft on the runway. Got 4 proxies in one instant.

B-17 mission had JUST upped and i had 6 rockets strapped to my plane. Never fired one .50 caliber round.

Post by: IHham on September 13, 2003, 01:41:05 PM: 7 kills, 2 B17 boxes upped from the south side of the runway, and I let loose a handfull of rockets at them, killed all of them, and a spit upped at the oppisite in and I loaded him with a few hunded 50's and got the kill.

I think the weirdest vultch I got was when I was in a jug dropping bombs on a rook CV, 3 F4U's were upping, so I got the CV, and bagged 3 kills at once.

If I remember right it was a bish field and it was under hard vulching by rooks(us). After 44 kills a lonely knit B17 dropped bomb to me and I died:mad:. Few seconds later we captured the base...

Wtf that knit b17 was doing there??? :)
