Title: Who are/where your Heroes?
Post by: GtoRA2 on September 11, 2003, 11:58:41 AM
Like when you where growing up? Or now?

Richard Bong has always been one of mine and Joe Foss.

Pappy Boyington was one as well, tell my dad pointed out, even though he was a hero, he was also a drunk and there where better men to admire.

I never thought of sports figures or movies stars as heroes.

Yup, What Rip said, Back in the 70's when someone said you're just like you're father I would have punched his lights out. But now I realise just what a compliment it was. I owe him so much including my interest in aviation and motorcycles. (I could strip a Norton ES2 down at the age of 9.... Oh, and have a good go at putting it back together). He has never let me down and at the ripe old age of 79 is unfortunately coming to terms with a serious (Terminal) illness which has all but made him housebound :( But the sparkle is still in his eyes and he's still the belligerant (sp)? SOB he's always been. I'm doing my best to repay all he has done for me over the last 47 years but I've still got a long way to go. (Hell Mom ain't a bad old gal either).

Dega and Sardaukar pretty much covered it for me. Quite simply my idea of a hero is one who is willing to place themselves in harms way for the sake of others.

to those who have done so, are doing so and those who will make that choice in the future.

Are you kidding?  For when i was a kid, this is a wash. Did anyone grow up in the 70's?

Your Dad? Please.

It was Evel Knievel.

When I got the Stunt Bike for Christmas I nearly shat meself. My parents were king that day, and I have never forgotten how glad i was that they hooked me up, and I surely knew it, but damn, i sure didn't think they were Evel.

Droopy, your kids will loath you when they are older, they have to go to friends houses to play games. They will hate you. And be able to dictate it to you in perfect English, ahead of their socially normal class, lol.

Hitech and Pyro are my heros cas they allowed me to fulfill my dreams of shooting people out of the sky, lol. Aside from that Hugh Heffner cas the man is a fr*king stud.
