Title: This is a Must See on 9/11
Post by: muckmaw on September 11, 2003, 06:17:54 PM
This video still gives me chills.

I'm so damn proud of our men and women and those from around the world who step up everyday and defend freedom.

to all our allies in uniform, especially UK and Australia.

Enjoy...

Thanks for that.  Takes away some of the sting from the other video.

Was this an official USAF produced bit?

I don't think so. I think it was put together by a member of the US Air Force, but it's not officially sanctioned.

Just an addition to this thread.

It never ceases to amaze me that other nations and people don't understand how deeply the average American can be angry. The case in point is the attack at Pearl was over 60 years ago and we as a nation are stiull angry about it. Just figure that this attack was, in reality a bona fide militry targert and against a military force. A general atttack against a civilian population was not implemented. Granted there was no declaration of war and we are STILL pissed about it as a nation. We do NOT forget it or the losses of men from it.

Now over 50 years later the US is attacked again, this time against a civilian target, with purely civilian aircraft and hostages as a weapon. The losses are about half again the number of dead at Pearl. There was no declaration of war, there was no valid (from a civilized perspective) method of attack or target. This was a sneak attack using the helpless to wage war on the defenseless.

Given the nature of this situation, the past history this nation has about being atttacked you'd damn well BETTER expect us to be angry and we will NOT forget it. We will NOT drop the issue. If you cannot accept this or help then at least get out of the way and let us take care of business. You should also not be found aiding or abetting the enemy or in some fashion you will be held accountable. This goes even if it is nothing more than a grass roots civilian boycot of your goods.

This is as simple as I can make it. I understand the feelings of many in this nation and share them, particulary the disgust and contempt for the terrorist and their sympathizers.

I think most Americans who were alive at the time got over Pearl Harbor by 15 Aug 45, if not 9 Aug 45.  The enemy has long been defeated, there is no rational reason to be "angry" for the Pearl Harbor attack.

You're welcome to your opinion. It's wrong but you're welcome to it.

You might want to ask someone who lost a relative during the war if they are still mad.

I work with a gent(in our equipment rental dept) that had his throat shot out on a PT boat by a Jap.  He will not work on or utilize honda motors(for example), so you might assume that he is still a tad bit angry.

Just wondering Maverick, do you see your "we as a nation" statement as anything more than an opinion?

Probably because he "doesnt understand." ;)

Guess that was the point of the post, though.

Plain and simple folks...  You have to be an American to understand our feelings completely. One can sympathize, or even empathize with us, but completely understanding is impossible unless you're an American. For us, being American goes way beyond citizenship in our country.

Hell, I sit here trying to explain it in words, and I can't. It's like us men trying to understand childbirth. The closest we can come is imagining the pain of getting kicked in the nuts, but we'll never fully know what it actually feels like.

Don't be angry fellas. People just don't understand.
