Title: V1/v2
Post by: J318 on September 12, 2003, 10:39:00 AM
AH2 in my opinion should give you the ablity to lanuch V1/V2 bombs from your airfield, then guide them to the target like you would an normal plane (like taking up a ME163 and plowing it into a enemy base) and if you eject (or not) the wreckage of your plane should be able to do damage to anything on the ground there by giving Japan back one of it's deadlyist weapons. What'd you think?

Kool idea.

Let the RAF / US try to shoot the V1's down with AAA or Planes.

I think the player should have to do some cals - like fuel load and direction and when the V1 runs out of fuel if falls to the ground. Not untill it hits does the player get any sort of indication of any damage that it did.

Also LIMIT how many are avaialbe per hour that can be launched - V1 PERK POINTS maybe ?

The V2 if it were put in should only be used by the Comand staff of the LW side.

I think that would be a bad idea.... whats stoping all players from doing it? We would have planes falling all over the place.

If you LIMIT how many can lauch then they will not be falling out of the sky.

It also depends on the TIME FRAME they want to recreate. If it is 1942/43 then they are out of the question. If it is 1944 then they would have been used.

If between June 44 and then ext 3-4 months they launched 9,521  that is about 80-100 per day = 10-15 per hour - so maybe allow no less than 5 mins between allowed launches.

Now the person ( Like on a bomb run ) has to calibrate the V1 for distance, fuel and direction so it runs out of fuel at the spot you want it to fall into the ground.

Once it is launched have a special DOT show up once it is in radar range so you can track it and send some planes after it or have local AAA try to shoot it down.

Just some interesting ideas.

The V-1 (also known as a flying bomb, buzz bomb or doodlebug) was a pilotless monoplane that was powered by a pulse-jet motor and carried a one ton warhead. They were launched from a fixed ramp and travelled at about 350mph and 4,000ft and had a range of 150 miles (240km). It was 8 metres (25 feet) long and had a wingspan of about 5.5 metres (20 feet).

Germany launched its new weapon from Pas-de-Calais on the northern coast of France, on 12th June, 1944. The first ten failed to reach the country but on the following day one landed in Essex. Over the next few months 1,435 hit south-east England. These attacks created panic in Britain and between mid June and the end of July, around one and a half million people left London.

Germany fired 9,521 V-I bombs on southern England. Of these 4,621 were destroyed by anti-aircraft fire or by RAF fighters such as the new turbojet fighter, the Gloster Meteor. An estimated 6,184 people were killed by these flying bombs. By August only 20 per cent of these bombs were reaching England.

I hate it. This is Aces High, not V1 Porkers High. I say loose the GV's and  a n y t h i n g  that takes focus away from A2A combat. Bombers are ok, they can be intercepted ... i.e. air combat.

If you want to drive a tank go play WWIIOL, it's a much better groundwar sim anyway.

Now of course if you could burn say 250 perkies to launch a v1 strike (aimed similarly to using the cruiser's guns), and maybe 500 perks for a v2 it could get interesting.

They both would have to limited to a few strategic and KNOWN  launch sites, that could easily be buffed into oblivion.

i tould you all how its work on warbist free host, yes they have V1 it since years;)

As you know  (or not) Freehost (FH) have RPS on MA.
So when time come (about middle of 1944) from every field you can launch V1 bomb (shape from 262 jet, and only works for axis side)
To launch V1 every time player must type dot command

.startfau XXX  YYY

XXX-heading YYY-range to target

So everyone must calculate where bomb hit.

V1 is spowning from field and fly constance speed and alt with long white smoke. Its easy to identyfy by that. Couple miles from target descend altlitude and dive to target.

Player can start one V1 at once , and till he not hit ground or is in air cannot launch another.
Killing V1 you get aerial victory but less scored
