Post by: YUCCA on September 12, 2003, 09:55:19 PM
Just posting a bit of info:

5' Hvar rocket = 150lb bomb

4'5 M8 Rocket (p47d25) = 90lb bomb

British 3'5 Rocket = 140lb bomb

Il2 Rocket-

(RS-132)- 120lb bomb
(RS-82)- 90lb bomb

I tested this by goin offline  they are all accurate.

I retested the information because I was working on Aircraft gun damages. What follows is even more accurate.

5" US = 156lb
4.5" US = 93lb
3.5" UK = 140lb
RS82 USSR = 93lb*
RS132 USSR = 125lb*
WGr21 GER = 200lb

*By the time I got to the Russian rockets I was thoroughly bored and wanted to actually fly. The RS82 did not inflict 95lbs damage but did do 93lbs it really could be 94lbs but I didn't want to drive myself insane. Likewise the RS132 did not do 130lbs but did do 125lbs it could be 126lbs - 129lbs.

German Rokets WGr21 should be As I know Air to Air rockets - if you fire them after few time you see explotion like of flack. This was build against bombers.

Anybody knows how to use them - distance/speed of firing? Aiming?

I've used 5" US and WGr21 rockets many times on bombers. The results are spectacular if you can land even 1 rocket hit. I've seen entire formations of B26s and JU88s simply disappear. B17s and Lancs are a bit tougher. When it works against them 2 planes simply don't exist anymore and the third is spiralling into the ground.

Best results... approach from 6oc high at such an angle that you can see the target. At D800 pull 2 to 3 Gs and salvo the rockets when the target becomes obscured by your nose.
