There is this song that I keep hearing parts of on the radio but I never catch the name of the artist. I can't even guess at the lyrics. I do know that it's being played on rock stations and it a male artist. The song has a slow tempo with a sax break about halfway through the song. I thought I heard the name jackson once but still am not having any luck. Please help, It's driving me crazy.

What station?
Many will post their playlists on line.

DC101 here in washington, DC. I've checked it's not any of those songs... and 98 rock in baltimore
-
Yeah I know that song. It kinda reminds me of that song a few years ago by some guy.
-
It's not edwin mccain 's "I'll be". Please no pot shots :)
-
I don't know why, but I think of Take Me Home Tonight by Eddie Money
-
Nope, slower than that, plus no sax... Thanks for playing...
-
Tina Turner's sax player had a song on "The Lost Boys" soundtrack called either "I Believe" or "I Still Believe".
That's the only thing I can think of at the moment.
-
"Urgent" by Foreigner?
"Blue Jean" by David Bowie?
"Look At Little Sister" by Stevie Ray Vaughan?
-
Well - if it's DC101 its going to be from late 80s till now... more now than late 80s. In fact, the only 80s they play are U2, and some GnR and Metallica.
For my guess: The Ataries "Boys of Summer".

so what are the clues again. sax in there somewhere. rock. a guy. jackson.
not a lot to narrow it down.
maybe Jackson Browne for the singer.
-
Didn't "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper have a sax in it?
-
Maybe its "Saturday Night" by the Bay City Rollers? :D
How about Bob Seegers "Turn the Page", its got a sax and its a great song.
good luck on your search

How about Bob Segers "Turn the Page", has a slow beat and a pretty good Sax riff about 1/2 way through the song..
-
You guys are way off, DC101 has... well Dave Matthews Band, Live, U2, White Stripes, Limp Bizket and other pop bands... to name a few.
If you don't know who the above are, then its a high probability that your advice is out of category.
Not to be harsh, but... well... DC101 is pretty much a 90s pop rock station.

Similar to CD101 :) Greatest station to grace the airwaves.
The Atari's have a tune out called "Boys of Summer" and its the remake of the Don Henley version. It's possible.
you could also call in and ask what the name of the song is...
One of my favorites out there that I like to play (very easy, for the most part just alternating A and G barre chords) is Turin Brakes - Pain Killer...good tune.
Wouldn't be Gravedigger by Dave Matthews would it? another fine tune thats not extraordinaily difficult to play, unlike some of his stuff (Warehouse, What Would you say...ect ect)
"Gravedigger"~ Dave Matthews (picked up mid-song)
"Ring around the rosie, pocket full of posie, ashes to ashes...we all fall doooooooooowwwwwwnnnn"
[Chorus]"Gravedigger, when you did my grave could you make it shallow so that i could feel the rain..."
"little mikey cochrine '67 to '75, rode his bike like the devil till the day he died, when he grows up he wants to be mr. vertigo on the flying trapeze ninteen forty to 1990-twooooooooooo"
-
Guys thanks for all the replies, It's not The Ataris, that song I know well. The only song that I can say it remotely sounds like is Bruce Hornsby's - Mandolin Rain.
"Urgent" by Foreigner?
Not sure can't find a sample.
"Blue Jean" by David Bowie? Not sure can't find a sample.
"Look At Little Sister" by Stevie Ray Vaughan? To fast to much guitar
Id love to call the radio station but the conversation would sound like it does here, I'll keep listening hopefully I'll catch, but please keep the Ideas coming...

"Id love to call the radio station but the conversation would sound like it does here..."
Actually, that's your best bet. Playing music is what they do all day long and I'm sure if you gave them an approximate time frame that you heard the song they could tell you what it was in a snap.

Positive, Heard it several times just everytime the song ended they never anounced it, cut to another song or commericial. I though heard the name once while driving at 75 mph and wasn't about to slam on the brakes in traffic to write down the name of the song...

I know all about kazaa lite, I also heard of RIAA. And until that smoke clears I'm steering clear.

You can still tape songs off of the radio too so I wouldn't worry about the RIAA too soon. I am still dl'ing to my hearts content. Don't be such a roll over to the RIAA!!!
