So, will my pathetic 26.4K dialup still work?
-
It works now?
-
Popeye unless here is a line quality issue as the cause I have a 36.6 USRobotics modem if you would like it. While it's not 56k or broadband it is a quality unit that never failed me.
-
will my c64's 1200 baud modem still work??? ;)
-
Westy, thanks for the offer, but I have a very good 56K modem. My problem is line quality. When I ask when I can expect DSL, they tell me I'm lucky to have electricity....
-
Understood and good luck. BTW, I'm not sure what you've done on your end (I assume you got the thumbs down decree from the tele co.) but have you checked in house to remove any dead or unused extensions from your phone line? "Taps" on the line in house, as well as between you and the c.o. often act an antenna and pick up unwanted electrical interpherence.
Good luck!

Yeah, I've had the telco "fix" the line a couple of times, and the modem is the only thing on it. One of the joys of country living....

Considering that to the best of my knowledge Aces High was desiigned to work on 9600 baud, 28.8 should be fine.

  dang...28.8....i have cable.

Check the title, AH2 might have very different requirements. I'm sure 56k would be fine, but 28.8 is going to be pushing it for any modern game.
I'm going to get flamed for this next statement, but, I'll be glad when games start appearing that require at least a 128k connection.
-
Though most online games say they need at least a 56k connection, you really need dsl-unless you want to have it be unplayable with lag.
Ah is pretty much the only game i have ever played where you can have a 56k and play it fairly well.
-
AFAIK the requirements for connection won't change. I belive the network code is still more or less the same so the new requirements will mostly/only be system speed wise.
