Not really Curval we have at least that in common being a bit of both myself!
No the punchline is: To have a smoke!
'Cos they're banning smoking in pubs here soon just like New Yawk and get this: Any publican who allows someone to leave the premises drunk will be fined. Now that's funny!

ITS FUNNY BECAUSE THEY ARE ALWAYS DRUNK
-
Animal-
I certainly hope the preceeding comment was not a blanket statement regarding the intoxication of Irish People.
I expect more from you so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt until you clarify your statement.
-
you gotta be kidding me...
-
Why would I be kidding?
There are alot of derogatory things I could say about alot of races, but if I dared say any of them, especially those pertaining to African Americans, I'll get slammed as a Rascist, and a bigot.
But it's alright to say Irish people are drunks, right?
I guess Italians are all in the Mob too, huh Animal?

Don't be silly Muck...it's the Sicilians that are in the Mob.
cpxx...I was just kidding...hence the little wink.
-
hehe...
You see my point though?
I guess all Koreans Eat Cats huh?
-
man you need to stay off the o-club , getting all high and mighty over a dumb joke... sigh.
-
I'm not getting high and mighty. And I'm not replying to a joke. I'm replying to what Animal said, and he was not kiddding when he said it.
Why is it, if he says "all Irish are Drunks" it's a joke, but if I said "All Hispanics are Car thieves" I'm a rascist?
I'm still waiting for a reason behind this double standard.
-
Cats? It's not cats it's dogs...and they be mighty tasty too.
woof

i like potatos

Muck, you obviously need this "racism" thing explained. It is not racism when members of the same race/ethnic group refer to themselves with words that would otherwise be viewed as offensive. Just as rap stars can call each other the "N" word, Irish folks can make Irish drunk jokes.
And since Animal is obviously Irish, he is taking advantage of his rare opportunity to make an ethnic slur without having the ACLU sue him. You seem to have missed this point however, and you are now branded a dirty hippie.
To demonstrate, I will also use my ethnic right to make Irish jokes to Animal, who is of course a fellow Irishman.
Hi Animal, you drunken potato-eating cracker-ass mick.
:D

It was a joke, GScholz. :)
And I know what you're saying. I've argued your point myself before. However, it seems that "racism" is becoming the all-encompassing term for any type of background-based discrimination, be it based on ethnic, racial, economic, national, or other similar factors.
I'm not saying it's correct, but it seems to be the way it's going. It's a lot simpler for people to scream "Racist" than "ethnicist" or "nationalist" when they're trying to get a nice out-of-court monetary settlement from someone with deep pockets.
You are correct, but many people just don't seem to know or care about the distinction. I guess I've just been assimilated. ;)

It's called bigotry guys...kinda like "racism light".

I take offense. I am neither Catholic nor Protestant.

Heh :), well that's what I find so sad about it. It dilutes the true meaning of racism, and equates the likes of Irish jokes with the horrors many have suffered throughout history.
Well said.
And thanks Curval, that's the word I've been looking for.

God made whiskey so we Irish wouldn't rule the world.
-
Are they any less Irish then their white countrymen?
Ummm, yes, they are a whole heck of alot less Irish! Some families have been in Ireland for thousands of years.
