Just curious, I wonder who really has real stick time and what kind. I am a simple 100 hour wonder, stopped flying when I had kids, which was soon after getting private single engine ticket. Plan was to fly carrier planes, ran into the old -1 on the 20/20 chart. I have divined that some of you are quite the sticks with quite the real life [allegedly] time in old ww2 birds.

Pilot for 29.5 years. Started by washing and waxing airplanes for flight time when I was 15 years old. In 1974 a Cessna 150 rented to $13 per hour... instructor was $5 an hour more.

No civilian time yet. 400 military hours in various platforms :)

i have only had 1 lesson, but a lot of 418 squadron are commercial airline pilots for Air Canada Jazz

The best I can do is an hour in an old (1970's vintage) flight simulator in a musuem :D

Approx 550 TT hours mostly in 1946 Ercoupe 415 C/D. Some (but not much)in Waco Taperwing, UPF7, 450 Stearman, Cherokees, C150s, Shinn, etc. Time I most liked was in Aero Commander Twin.
Don't fly anymore - refuse rides regularly, fraid I might like it too much again and at this time I can't afford it anymore...

About 100 hours. Got my private then got a house/married...
house/married:1 flying:0....
Besides, its cheaper per hour here ;)

200+ hours (Mostly in 172...some in T-34's, Marchetti, Yak, 1 hour in stearman(first spin))
Private, Instrument, taildragger, complex/high performance.
There are a lot of guys flying with a lot of experinece tho.

didn't get a chance ($$$$) to finish my private 5 years ago. lately, i've been reviewing (about 25-30 hours, now) while in the right seat during flights with my brother (C150's and 172's, Piper Warriors). getting through private training should be a breeze next time around. :)
if you have the chance, take a quick flight at a local flight school. you won't regret it. intro flights are usually cheap!

Somewhere around 300 hrs., many of them on floats. Haven't been current for a bit, gotta get around to recertifying my medical slip. Someday the bug will bite again, then I'll rush down to the doc, hehe. ( I still may be found grabbing the stick from the right seat now and then, shhh. don't tell the MOT).

Is he even still alive? It's probably been close to ten years since I've talked to him.
Back to the question at hand...single/multi engine instructor reporting in. Anybody know a place in AZ to get a seaplane rating? AFD only had one listed in Kingman. Thought I'd seen/heard of a place at Havasu.

Commercial Helicopter Licence since 95 mainly made up of PnC time in Hughes 500C, 206's and Hughes 300's. Never been anywhere near a Robinson other then to pick up the wreckage after a crash.
Also have about 12 hours fixed wing, but that bored crap out of me as only ever wanted to fly helicopters.

What is "Stick time"?
I think I got hit with a stick when I was a punk, but not sure if thats what your talking about.
With a little luck I'll be in a CRJ in about 3 more years, prolly more like 5 though. Mesa Pilot Development is accepting all my cash along with Arizona State.

The phrase "100 hour wonder" pretty much sums up my aviation career. I flew Piper Cherokee 140s back in the late '70s. I was flying solo before I could drive a car! :eek:
I had all my night, instrument and cross country hours, was prepping for the flight test when, one day, I went away to college, got married, had kids, lost my hair and never flew again.

I'm another 100-hour wonder, though I haven't given up yet. My most recent stretch of real flying was about six months ago. Twice I've been close to getting my ticket before real life intervened.

Hmm Stick time... did an intro flight the otherday, but most of my "Stick time" is with Rattan 30+years in the SCA Hittin folks with sticks.......

Just the basic 50 or so hours in a 172 to earn my PPL, but I hit the flightline this week to start flying one of Cessna's more venerable planes, the T-37B Tweet. Still can't believe I get paid to do this for a living.

That's my story exactly. Piper Warrior IIs when I was 17-18 in 77-78, got all my solo time in etc, went away to school, got married, had kids and have been broke ever since :)
Still remember the kite I soloed in. N3332Q. I had roughly 60 hours in when the real flying stopped. I'll always remember my instructor getting on my case for my curving approach to landing. "This isn't a P51! You gotta do it by the book!"

About 12-15 hours per year, total now about 100 hrs, including 35 h of gliders (much more fun, in our club acrobatics are allowed in gliders.. :) )
Cessnas and AA5 mostly. C152 is fun plane, its quite agile compared to those C172 series.
The best part is that as I am working as an Air traffic controller my flying hours are tax deductable ( at least 5-10 hours) so I will get something back.

been flying about 5 years, flight instructor for 2. about 700 hours in various singles and multi. also some level D time in 737-300 and BE1900D.

Not US ultralight,gross weight is about 1000lb - rules we have in Europe.

Back in high school and college (I'm 46 now), I flew Cessna 150's and gliders. Total stick time: about 35 hours, split 50/50, with maybe 4 hours solo in gliders, which as Jarsci points out, are much more fun than powered. The glider training has been very useful over the last 10 years of AirWarrior/WarBirds/Aces High combat.

In 1997 I got 15 minutes stick time in the B-17 "Nine-o-nine". Now the FFA won't let people do that anymore. I paid $500 to fly it and it was a total erection. I also have the whole flight on tape.

and they also vibrate themselves into some semblance of a flight configuration, at least the old 9cly radial eng UH34 did.
Mfg by Sikorsky at their plant in Conn. it took over after the older version was finished following rhe Korean War I believe. I crewed that one mostly only graduating to the CH53 after a brief retraining on jet engines.
Never did like the 53.

I've been flying since 1979, but need to get current again. I let my medical and biennial lapse a couple of years ago. I've flown various Cessnas, a Decathlon, Champ (learned taildraggers in that), Gere Sport biplane (http://home.earthlink.net/~dccowan/biplane/geresprt.htm), and this '41 Culver Cadet (notice the Spit-like wings!):

I have flown a bit in February of 2000.
I put up this batting cage with the top at 15' and used it for years but came time the property owner wanted it down, so I took my ladder out to do that.
The ground was starting to thaw and I was up right at the top of a pole unbolting a cable. I had both hands on the job and my feet on the ladder.
One side of the ladder just suddenly broke through the frozen crust into the muck underneath and the ladder lurched to the side sinking about 8-10" in on jump.
I took off, sailing out over the prairie grasses, flapping my wings and kicking my legs.
I flew man, I flew. I really, really flew.
But, like they say, the landings are the hard part.
Had an operation to remove a piece of fractured disc after that one.

I have 4000+ hours in variouse aircraft both fixed wing and rotorcraft. Rotorwing : hughs 500 series & jet rangers Fixed wing: a slew of single and multi engine aircraft. Barons, King Airs, Lear jets.

It is quite cool to see the mix we have in here - military guys, old-fashioned arm flappers, and everything in between. The b-17's were here last week -- 400 bucks for 30 minutes, but had to buy a new leather couch instead...man, i am whipped. But I did find out about a local guy who flies people in a t6, think I will go for an hour and find my barf limit [with a smile on my face].
Toad - a co worker of mine took the same flight school, he set his ladder up in front of his garage to take down christmas lights, only the legs slipped out and he came straight down from about .010k. I guess he did more of a bailout than a graceful flight in a horizontal trajectory.

only flew once,got to take the stick of a b-24 liberator while in flight, experience ill remmeber forever,,it was a colins foundation b24,,,and for 300 bucks you got a 1 hour ride and 30min on the stick,,only got to barly turn it,,,but it was worth it,,lol

Going on 200 hrs and an Instrument rating.
just over 15 hrs in an AT-6 and an SNJ, all dual. (lopping them together as one since they're basically the same airplane) flying to and from airshows with a late friend of mine who was killed performing in an airshow in the AT-6.
30 hrs tailwheel time on my own (aeronca chief, champ, Super-D, citabria and a precious few in a Pitts, also dual)
For those of you who think you can hop into a 'warbird' and fly it...you're wrong. i've seen guys get thrown off the runway in C-180's and planes as small as taylorcrafts...and you wanna sling something around thats got 1000 or more horsepower. I can see it now..."throttle to full, torque, 1.2.3.4.5.6 runway lights, groundloop, Deposit $100,000 into maintenance fund please."
Got the UFI from the EAA (Ultralight Flight Instructor) over the summer and give dual in a Challenger II, nifty gig and all it took was a checkride and a few hours of dual...its a nifty little plane for 15 grand.
Hopefully i've got a lot more hourse left and have been enjoying every minute. maybe one day i'll have a career as distinguished as Voss' :D :lol :rofl :eek: :rolleyes:

:) good to hear the voice of truth, far too many do equate the flight sim with real world flight ( someone told em about Microsoft Flight Simulator )LOL......same thing with bullets NOT the same here as in the real world, anyone in a ruch to go to Iraq, Iran or anywhere else to make a point or wreak vengence and havoc stop and think first please.
Ya only get ONE life over there,and it hurts ta get shot too. lLast I checked we only get 2 arms 2 legs and like that sooooooo, need I say more.

Started my PPL and stopped with about 10 hrs.. about 3 years ago..
Got some fun time this year in a AT-6 out 2 hours worth with an aerobatic's instructor this is the cake!! This was the best time of my life the SOB had me blacking out. :rofl
Once I get the new home. It's back to getting my PPL..
