Madonna-Britney kiss angers Stevie
By NUI TE KOHA
19sep03

STEVIE Nicks rates the notorious Madonna-Britney kiss as the most obnoxious television moment ever.

"First of all, Madonna is too old to be kissing someone who is 22," the Fleetwood Mac singer told the Herald Sun.
"And Britney should be smarter than that. Hopefully, she will figure a way out of this hole she has dug for herself."

Original rock chick Nicks, 55, said Spears and Christina Aguilera should wear more clothes and try writing decent songs.

"I personally have never been to a strip club, but I turn on MTV and see in every single video what it must be like to be at a strip club," Nicks said.

"I think the mystery is gone, and if you have no mystery, then you aren't even sexy.

"Real sexuality and sensuality is in the music, and all these girls, vis-a-vis, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and on and on, should go back to writing songs and start over because it won't last and they won't last.

"When they are 55, they won't be around and that's sad because I think a lot of those girls are very talented. But they are signing their own death warrants."

Nicks was appalled by Madonna's publicity stunt kiss with Spears at the recent MTV Awards.

"I thought it was the most obnoxious moment in television history," she said.

"Madonna will be fine. Madonna is Madonna. She does what she wants. She will get over this. But will Britney get over it? I don't know."

Nicks revealed Madonna asked Jennifer Lopez to be in the smoochy routine, but J.Lo told Madge to kiss something else.

Nicks is the ultimate rock survivor, weathering drug addictions, depression and a tumultuous relationship with Lindsey Buckingham.

I wish more pop starts got that advice.  what a novel idea, if you want to make it big in the music bussiness (and want it to last)
make better music.

Rip and I agr... agr...... agggrrrr....

agree. (lordy that hurt) and she's still a babe.

Landslide may be one of the finest songs ever written.... period.

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
'Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love
Can the child within my heart rise above
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you get bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too

Oh, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down

If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring it down.

I agree that Stevie Nicks used to be a babe, but she's going down the other side of the hill now. Madonna is a scagg and has always been one. She has little talent and no voice. She's made her career on props and shock. ****ney is the same way, all props and bellybutton. Christine has the better voice of the three and could last a long time if she sings and leaves the "shock" in the dust.
I used to have a thing for Belinda Carlisle years ago, but she's "played out" too.

;)

Stevie Nicks is perhaps the most talented singer/songwriter of my generation. Her voice is timeless.

The only other female singer/songwriters I have any respect for are Sheryl Crow and Bonnie Rait.

Stevie Nicks was the hottest Rock Babe out there in the 70's, but her Big Mac addiction plumped her up around 300lbs. She may have lost some of that. Did you know she is also 100% nuts? She worships Pagan Gods and belives she is a witch.

Yeah, she and Jimmy Page apparently had quite a thing going with the witch craft stuff, and some accusations that Robert Plants son died because of "misplaced spells cast" were rumored back then too.  Not sure how much truth to all this there was....

If you want to listen to some really good Fleetwood Mac, listen to the original band and the one that followed it. The version with Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham is the third version.
The original band consisted of Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kerwin. The second version had Bob Welsh replacing Peter Green and adding Cristie McVie.
If you want to get the bio of the band, go to this link:

I agree with Stevie Nicks in what she said in the article. It's about time somebody got some balls (heh) and actually called the kiss stunt for what it is. What was so predictable was the press eating that up like they did. They practically worship madonna already. Then you have all the jerk-off guys "I would SO nail HER!!" or "Shee's SOO secksie!!"

While I'm whining, country music is even worse IMO. Every video the girls have gotta try and be sexy. Not just a little sexy, but over the top, 13 yr. old boy-pithes-a-tent-sexy. Doesn't matter the subject of the song or anything, it'll be about leroy down at the farm and the goofy singer will be in a nightgown with her hair down, lips wet, tryin her best for the camera. Bout time these bimbos get a brain and actually try to sell music instead of arse.

So am I a jerk-off guy because I wouldn't throw Britney Spears out of the sack?  Well, I guess I might give her the toss if she failed the preliminary hygene check. :D

But I agree, it's sad that you really can't get to the top in the music business without being hot.

I always hear women complaining that rock music is biased against women.  how you can count on one hand the number of women who make it for the long haul.

I think this subject pretty much explains it.  most women depend more on their prettythang then their voice.  maybe if they went more on tallent it could last.  a voice don't last forever but it does last longer than a young girls looks.

I *love* Stevie Nicks. I have most of her CDs, by herself and with Fleetwood mac... just love it. She's a great vocalist, really.. and.. well, yea. I like Stevie Nicks. ;)

People also call me a hippie; go figure? *ponders this*

Anyway; pop music today is just.. nasty. Backstreet boys and N'Sync are just as bad as Brittney and Christina; they're just /guys/, so when they wear practically nothing on TV its okay. They can also sing songs about getting a girl's clothes off before the end of the song and get away with it; go figure?

I honestly, honestly fear to see what these kids growing up with this music and this culture are going to be like when they're adults. I go back to my high school and walk the halls, help Jill teach her class sometimes.. and it seems like each year the Freshman are getting stupider and stupider. They care more about the latest fashion and which hour Jenny broke up with Tom, for the 5th time that day, than they do things that are really going to matter some day..

Ah well. Hopefully they'll grow up.

ORANGE COUNTY WEEKLY

Bella Donna Groupies
Memories of a Stevie Nicks fan

by Stacy Davies

Stevie Nicks is coming to town—as if we didn’t know. The relentless airplay of "Peacekeeper" and the barrage of ticket giveaways that uniquely span both classic and modern-rock radio stations say Fleetwood Mac is still hot. Or at least lukewarm.

But with all the press during the last three decades, what’s left to know about the classic overexposed band and its biggest star?

We’ve all seen the VH1 Behind the Music story of the Mac and of Stevie’s solo career. We know she slept with Lindsey Buckingham. And with Mick Fleetwood. There are the rumors she was a total coker and had to have the cartilage in her nose rebuilt, and that she’s practically blind. But the Weekly strives to bring you the news the other newshounds won’t—or can’t—and thus we offer you a rare perspective: the groupie.

In the 1980s, Cindy Halwick and her best friends Maria and Heidi were Stevie-holics.

"We used to dress up like Stevie," Halwick says. "We’d wear all black and lace and capes—the whole nine yards. In high school, everyone thought we were freaks, which was true. In 1986, Stevie did the Rock a Little tour and came to Hartford [Connecticut], so we had plans A through F drawn up on how we were gonna meet her—dress up as roadies, caterers, flower-delivery people.

"We bought scalped front-row tickets for $75 each. Then we got a room in the hotel where we thought she was staying; it turned out she wasn’t. So we saw the show and kept our ticket stubs, because later the tour also went to Providence and Worcester and all those venues had the same floor plan. So what we’d do is buy crappy tickets for those shows and then hold our thumbs over the date on our old stubs and get on to the floor and bum-rush the stage.

"So every concert for the first five shows, we’re front row. And Stevie’s backup singer, Lori Perry, keeps seeing us and she gets this eye contact thing going with Maria. So for the next concert we’re in Providence, front row, and after the show, Lori tells Maria to ‘stay there.’ Pretty soon a bouncer comes around and takes us backstage. We meet all the band and everyone who’s hanging out, and we’re totally jazzed because we’re finally going to meet Stevie. So we’re waiting and waiting, and suddenly she comes in, and she’s loaded. She couldn’t even walk. And we’re all excited, you know, so we don’t care. And she has this big plastic cup full of whiskey on ice, and she comes over as Lori introduces us, and she’s slurring out all her words and holding her cup and saying, ‘Now don’t drink this, kids, this isn’t for you.’ She starts hugging us, and she’s reeking with her booze breath all over us and she’s the heaviest she’s ever been—pushing 200 pounds, definitely.

"So we sort of talk to her, and then it’s time for her to get on her bus, and she starts walking down the hallway in these three-inch-high ‘elephant blue’ suede boots, and she’s falling into the walls and slurring. Then suddenly she yells out, ‘I don’t know why I bought these f***ing boots, I can’t even walk in them!’

"We all follow her out, and when she gets to her bus, her brother Chris, who we had met a couple concerts before and done lines with, says to us, ‘She doesn’t even party anymore—all she does is drink, smoke pot and eat cheeseburgers. We have to drive the whoopeeed bus through the McDonald’s drive-thru all the time. That’s how she got so fat.’

"Later on, at other concerts, we ran into her and she’d say hi. Once we got stranded at a concert and Chris had to give us $20 for gas to get back home. We kept following her, and through the whole tour, she was totally wasted on stage, and she’d always forget the lines to her songs, so we’d yell them to her from the front row. She entered rehab shortly after that."
