Ok, my boss has a new computer, and its a 2.4 Celeron. When he browses with IE, or even just reading emails and in Outlook ... his scrolling is not smooth, its very choppy. I've gone to smooth scrolling in the IE settings, that didnt help at all.
Any suggestions?

Take a look here: http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=93318
Maybe he solved the problem.

Nope, never did. However, there are different degrees of slowness. Your problem sounds like it might be the video driver Nimitz. Have you downloaded and installed the latest?
Another way my problem is manefested. Often when I backspace over text the cursor won't move until I release the backspace key. It then jumps many characters. Doesn't always do this which makes it very puzzling.

Hmmm...havent installed latest drivers, but I dunno even what kind of card he has in that machine. Its an emachine (I know, I know - I tried to talk him out of it). I guess I could go to device manager to try to find out.

If you get the model number you can find all the appropriate drivers at the emachines web site.

Is he scrolling with a mouse wheel? It is a laptop?
-
It is the video card driver, when I freshly install XP the first thing I do is install the detonator drivers. XP will recognize the card but the same thing happens to me, horrible jerkiness while scrolling. After I install the vid drivers its smooth as silk

Well, I dont have an nvidia card, does that matter?

sure, it did the same thing when i had my radeon
-
have you done windows update yet to see if that picks up any new vid drivers?
-
But you didnt install detonator drivers with your Radeon did you? Yeah, I've dloaded all the stuff XP has for the machine. The online techo support guy at emachines had me uninstall the drivers on the keyboard and mouse, but that did not help at all, no difference.

Nope I bought a radeon and installed the drivers fresh on a reformat. Same thing happened as did when I did a fresh format with the nvidia card.
