Title: Engine Getting Balky at Times
Post by: Halo on September 23, 2003, 11:04:10 AM
After I got a little more into engine management and occasionally did the minus/plus thing on the number keypad to reduce rpm and glide longer when fuel was low, my aircraft engines seem to be more balky overall, sometimes stuttering with the manifold gauge needle fluttering.

I've gone to wep and maxed the throttle to fix this, and that seems to work for awhile.  Have recalibrated throttle too.  Doesn't seem to be a crucial vulnerability, but makes me concerned about my inability to understand or control it.

In addition, WEP seems to be much less powerful or lasting.

Or is there some new engine realism setting that gives us less than silky smooth engines all the time?

Well with me, I have to hit my ages old TM attack throttle on occasion.

Try recalibrating except dont go 100% on the throttle hold it back just a tick. Then when you use it in the game when you go full throttle it will stay hard on the throttle stop. Had this same problem with attack throttle.

Ice when this old beast does it's thing it drops to around 70%. It happens only once in a while. It's got 6 years and a WHOLE lot of hours on it. I think I maybe one of the few still flying the TM flight control system. It's like an old friend. All the replacement Top Gun sticks I've got are spikey. Got four years on this one. When it dies I'll have to go to a new system.

I have a couple attack throttles if you want one I will give it to you. Or since your still on gameport I have a CH f16 stick and pro throttle $70 for the pair they are gameport I also have a usb adapter for them. I was a diehard Thrustmaster for years. However 1 flight on the CH and Thrustmaster was out of buisness as far as I was concerned. Get rid of that old spikey pos and upgrade to smooth sailing. One thing tho if you upgrade to windows XP you will have to get new USB stuff. Thats why I have the used CH stuff had to buy all new USB when old system died. The cooling fan for the CPU broke off and landed on my mother board frying the whole works. That was a bad morning!
