The strangest thing is that they reported engine fire 30 minutes before crash...
Saratov governor, Dmitry Ayatskov, said that the crew probably tried to avoid a crash in a populated area. Also they probably had to avouid one of the Europe's biggest underground natural gas reservoir near Stepnaya....
Some WB pilots from Saratov are aquainted with people from that strategic bomber unit. I hope to hear some details from them sooner or later.
In August our defence minister flew Tu-160 from Saratov to Far East on a training mission. Our leaders like expencive toys. :rolleyes:

An engine fire is almost always a broken fuel line and unless you shut it off it's going to keep feeding the fire and maybe even if you do.
Russian ejection seats are supposed to be the best in the world. I wouldn't have waited that long.
Sorry to hear about the death of the crew. May they RIP.
