Last Saturday 101 Sqn Israel hosted the yearly mini convention for Israeli pilots and what can I say.. it was a blast !
Special thanks to Doctorr for hosting it at his place !

The BBQ was working nonstop churning out exotic kebabs, steaks, and burgers compliment of the outsanding chef Doctorr, and his wife Michal...

After relaxing around the table we thought it would be a good time to line up for a pilot shot (note some pilots are missing). Also note our special guest wipass who came in all the way over from the UK...

Later that evening, a 2 vs 2 tournament match was setup promptly by our XO Jussa...

...which provided nonstop action and the adrenaline levels high all the way into the late night...

As we progressed up the tournament ladder it suddenly became apparent that the "dream team pair" (Doctorr & Oferaz), wining duel after duel might take this event...

But to no avail... Yood & Laviyo are content with recieving 3rd runner up prize... Michal's excellent "Cookie Cake"...

As we move into the finals Doc & Fofy conduct an important briefeing before facing off with the CO ViFF & his trusted wingman Nesher...

The duel commences.... spectators amass to chear on the brave pilots ! in the pic below you see me (left) and Nesher in the thick of battle with the dream team.

I won't say exactly how it ended but I will release this official statement:
The 101 Squadron CO is extremely satisfied that by showing his great virtues in ACM he was excused from having to display his great virtues in humility...

Indeed it was a super evening. some of us even had a gliding sortie erlier, thanks to yood - our gliding expert.
Wipass brought us a present from the 22 S.A.S...
Thanks to doc and familly for having us...
And about the 2 vs 2.... I can just say that doc and me decided that it would not be a good idea to shoot down the C.O. :D :D

What a weekend, a flight from the UK to Israel with one of fofy's pals as Captain of the flight, My hotel was on the beach, so I took the opportunity to run for 40 minutes in the town and back along the beach, the weather was perfect. I spent Friday evening with viff and his new bride Claris at a bar/restaurant in Tel Aviv, at 04.00 we were told they had run out of becks beer and the coffee machine was shut down, I admit to drinking the becks but not to all the coffee
Saturday fofy (Ofer, another "real pilot") collected me and we headed to yoods for brunch, by now we were using Israeli time, which is a little bit slower than Spanish time and which means everyone will always be an hour or so late, manyana !
At yoods we met up with viff and Claris (who were late also), after food yood (who is a real pilot) took us to a local airfield (they said local it was 80 k) for some glider flying and powered gliders also, it was superb as during the afternoon we all had one or two flights under our belts.
Then on to doctorrs house, I was looking forward to meeting him as he is a Plastic Surgeon but was extremely dissapointed when he said that hair transplants were not his speciality, and besides which, my hair is way too far gone for any help. We had an evening barbecue, lots of drinks, fun, chatting and the 2 v 2 which I had no chance of winning as being only 5' 6" I couldn't reach the rudder pedals
Got back late to the Hotel, and after proving that one person can demolish the contents of the mini bar, I slept like a baby and woke with a hang over. Rested by the beach Sunday morning and caught a late flight home.
If you ever get a chance, go visit Israel, it's safe, warm and the locals are on the whole very charming and friendly,

Yeah That was really great time to see all the people in "Real" life not just hear their voices - that was great party!

Aye.. its was hard on Saturday... quite gusty, strong sidewind on takeoff and landing, but bueatifuly sunny.. a very bumpy ride for our gliders...
But wipass showed us he could hold that glider steady like a rock in the thermals :)

Wow Wipas...all the way to Israel for a weekend. Impressive.
Israel is one country I really want to visit...and by the looks of it the mini con there was great fun.

Thanx to Docie's increadible ability to turn saggy and droopy objects into works of art.... so he did it here... After months of juggling this Mini con operation and trying to blow a little more air into this baloon without much success, Doc rose to the occassion and pulled it off like only he knows how.
