There's a german company that manufactures sim pedals that are very good from what I hear. They supposedly work with digital sticks too. That company has a webpage, but I don't have the link here at work, sorry. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif)

Not sure that you can use rudders with
a twist stick - that was my main reason
to buy a CH FFX rather than the MS FFX.
I used to have a TM set up (FLCS/TQS) and
used it with CH Pro Pedals (my wife and me
have a regular LAN race in NFS3 about who
is going to wash the dishes (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) ).
I own the CH Pro pedals since - uhm - about
3-4 years now and never had to open them;
no spiking either. The ones of my wife are
now one year old and have zero problems.
They are about DEM 200,- here which equals to
roughly USD $110,-. Can't say that I ever
regret it.

This is gonna start a fire..or somethin im sure.
I have had the thrustmaster pedals for something like 4 years ..but to tell you the truth there just collecting dust.
For the past year or so I have been using the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback pro, with the twist rudder on the stick.
Why you ask?
Well its easy really..you have much much finer control with your hands than your legs and feet..its that simple..I dont care how used to rudder pedals you get, if you ever get a stick with the twist, you will never go back.
I have tried to explain this to my squadmates in airwarrior..but to no avail, they like the "realism" of the pedals. Their loss..
Give it a try..over time you will see what I mean.

The simped rudders are digital and suppose to work with MS Precision Pro.

I use a MS Sidwinder Precision Pro, and like it just fine. It has throttle, rudder and 9 programable buttons. Basicly all you need and its not too expensive. I cant compare it to peddels because I have never used them but I will admit I would like to try them but being on a budget I think I will stick with what I have for now (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

i use a ms pro also but have a problem with the short and unprecice control over the rudder i think a set of peddels with give me that extra edge.
-
I made my own ;-) About 3 years ago, still working fine with NO problems ;-) I made the pedals independant so I could use them for racing type sims too. Cost me about 20 bucks LOL!!! Same with my throttle....
Try it!

I use the CH Pedals myself.
Ive tried the thrustmaster ones and they are
ok for a flight sim but the CH ones are nice enough to work for race games with the flip of a switch. I used to use a Logitech Wingman Extreme digital but it REALLY doesn't work well with pedals and until I took it completely apart and back together again, it was owned by the evil spike deamon which is why I switched back to my regular wingman extreme (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

If your feeling adventurous, check out our CO's page. He's designed and documented a set of home made pedals that apparently work a treat.

ps.. I'm dangerous when handling tools, so I just went and bought a set of CH pedals. They're pretty basic, but they work fine. I got em for $110 AUD, and I think they retail for $80-$100 US.

thanks all for your responses and any more that want answer.

For me there is only one and thats the Ch pro pedals, yeah u really need a bit of double sided tape to keep em still but they are great. As to the MS Sidewinder twist your joystick crap i gotta say that its the most gawd awful system I've used. It is very difficult to be precise in trying to twist and control ailerons and elevators with the same control. i dont think one would find anything like it in a real A/C. There is nothin like the ability to use your southern most appendages to control the rudder. Kinda like a drummer you jus gotta get all the pieces workin together its gonna be real important in WB 2.73 and I hope as important in AH. For the impact on your gunnery its well worth 3 months flyin $$.

It ain’t, Pirado (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Now seriously. What about the precision. How much can you twist it ? 30 degrees in one direction ? And with that small base ? Hardly a precision. Centering the slip indicator in the maneuvers ? You already have enough job for your hand with ailerons and elevator. So you add the rudder control also, while feet do nothing ?

I use an old set of the original TM RCS pedals I bought about 6 years ago. I use them with a CH Force FX and CH Pro Throttle. I modified my TM pedals to give me a more realistic feel and fly with my heels on the floor instead of on top. I use two heavy duty trucker style bungee chords, bout 1/2" in diam., and they give me a progressive feel to the pedals the further I push them. I made some insert replacements for the pedals that have a bar on the end of them so that when I fly I have heels on floor, balls on rudder pedals. Very much like the Aeronca Champ I flew. It feels very good and realistic to me and allows fine control. I have not had any problems with the pedals other than breaking the spring since I bought them. I highly recomend a similar setup. You do need to have something to keep them from sliding though. I use a piece of wood behind them that takes up the space from the pedals to the wall and they are very steady that way.
Self made pedals are a very viable and inexpensive solution too. If your handy with tools and have access to them you can design your own to do pretty much anything you like.
Twist grip joysticks are good from the standpoint that they offer all the control axis in one unit and are thereby a little cheaper than going with a full setup, but they have never felt realistic to me and I have always felt awkward trying to use them.
Hope this helps.

Come on Nassko. hahahaha (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
Using hands is much more precision, "fine tune".
No, its not much job to my hands. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Maybe 30 degreese, but its all what we need to apply FULL RUDDER control.
Also, like i told ya before. Its much more confortable, i can leave my legs/feets in peace n just relax. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
Hey... if i hurt my legs/feets in a football game, im still doing well.
Now, get ur pedals, but... if u r unable to use ur feets... u r unable to fly well... than will be easy to SHOOT YOU DOWN!
Lets play some football next weekend? (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
ahhh come on.. i will not hurt ur legs.. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Full rudder ?
you can do that with keyboard too (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
No, I was referring to precision rudder control and coordinated flight. I imagine it is harder to coordinate ruddder by twisting the stick which is already in one corner, for example.
-
Can be precise. If its aready in one corner its not a problem.
Can fly cordinated with pratice, like you do using rudder pedals.
"I imagine it is..."
Stop to imagine, and try it (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

i use the simpeds mentioned in one of the posts (hoffmann electronics) and must say that i'm completely satisfied. the have no pots build in insted they work with an Hall generator. as for the feeling. you can make very fine adjustments with them. i believe i can obtain the same precision as other ppl do with their twist-o-rama sticks. additional there is the possibility of quick reactions without spoiling the aim due to wild twisting on the stick. (for e.g. snapshots etc).. kill me but i will never ever buy me one of this twiststicks. i must agree though that it is hard to get used in the first place but after a while your feets are dancing under the table and u don't even realise it. back to the simpeds. they are for sure better then the tm ons. i have both sets but since i use the simpeds the tm pedals just collect dust.

I have TM elite pedals. They're cheap and have worked great for over a year. Before that I had CH pro pedals. They were constantly spiking. Finally I just dumped them in the trash where they belong.

I use a MS force feedback it works fine. Have never used peddals but I admit I would like something to rest my feet on.

I used the MS FF twisty stick. Was great until I went online. Thing lasted about a year, total. The spring on the rudder twist tore out the soft plastic retainer and then deformed (Yeah, maybe I was going a little hard following a bogey). No repair (Just try to get repair parts from MS). Nice stick put just not very robust compared to the FF CH stick I replaced it with. BTW, I saw a box bundle at COMPUSA for a full TM rig (lower end) for $100.00. CH pedals, stick and throttle performing great, just miss my eight-way hat something fierce.
