With AH2:ToD coming its apparent by reviewing the plane set that there are very few "theaters" that can be run. The ones that can be run will need plane substitutions.
The 3 theaters that can be run seem to me to be ETO (mostly late war), BoB and Late Med.
Even with these three we have holes in the planeset.
HT said he plans to run an 8th airforce theater first. Well looking at the planes set the US side are fine with running a '44 set up.
The lw is ok with that but we have an early g6. We can make do with the g10 but then we have an overperforming ac.
Clearly this is the best theater to start with until we get new planes.
In Bob the lw have the ju88a4 which is a later version then the ju88 and faster. No Do 17s or he111s effect the raf side because they will always be chasing the faster a4. We have a Ju87d-3 that can certainly stand in for a b-2 but it carries a larger bomb load.
I guess what I am saying is will there been any thought into producing new planes by theater to fill out the ones we have or will new planes be released as before.
An early p38, p47c a 109gas, a b24 etc would be great to see for an 8th airforce set up etc....
Pac setup (argueably the favorite of a largee portion of the ah player base) and the eastern front are lacking.
Any thoughts?

We might could do the Rhubbarb thing, also. Spit5s and Bostons vs. 109Es, 109Fs, and FWa5s (which is a bit later but WTF?)

so confusing lol

I beleive HT said that they were realeasing AH2 with no new planes and were going to ad them l8er. :)

no ****
AH2:ToD isnt "AH2". AH2 is just the next version of AH 1.xx. It will eventual include 2 types of arenas/gameplay. Those being AH2:Classic (current main with the newer art) and AH2:ToD (mission based arena run by theater)
AH2:ToD wont be released for some time after ah2 classic. AH2 classic will be offline for some time after its release.
What I posted has nothing to do the AH2:Classic and for the most part there are very few new planes that would get much air time in the main anyway. So who cares if there are no "new planes" if AH2 is released?
I was talking about filing out the plane set based on theater to get the most out of the mission arena. That has nothing to do with getting new planes when ah2 is released.

I hear 2 weeks after the real AH2, ie. not beta.;)

I believe Gremlin has it right, no new planes until TOD is released. This brings a problem I think, I don't know how HTC is going to address it. TOD is said to be an arena meant to attract a different type of gamer.
If it succeeds, and I hope it does, then there will undoubtably be some/many new players who, like a lot of the current players, know quite a bit about WW2 aviation history.
These new players will want the whole TOD arena to be as historically accurate as possible i.e. the same planes that were used by each side, at that particular point in the war.
Bringing what will be a new game to most of them with an incomplete plane set and substitutions for the actual planes that were used probably won't go over well with them.
It is, after all, marketed as a new game, so most people would expect it to be complete in that regard.
Again, I don't know what HTC has planned so hopefully I'm wrong about all this. I definitely wouldn't want the TOD arena to go belly up so we'll just have to wait and see and have a little faith.

Didn't you guys perform this skit already?

This thread isnt about when planes are released or specifically which new planes get released.
What I am asking about is when ht is ready to intoduce new planes that he consider filling the gaps on a "by theater" basis instead of introducing several new planes that for the most part are unrelated in terms of which time frame and theater they belong in.
With the exception of an unperked ki84, or a later version spit 9, there's not many more planes that will get a lot of use in the main. So my point is if we get, for example, a ki84 and a LaGG3 (while they help) it still leaves large gaps in the planeset that will have a direct effect on the mission theater.
For instance a p38j, p47c, 109g6as, b24 (and others) get released specifically to fill the gaps in the ETO set. These will also help with a med theater and pac theater.
a ki84, p39, betty, ki43, f4f-3 (and others; I just using theses as an example) designed to fill the gaps in a pac theater.
I am not sure how long a specific "theater" will run (how long a "tour" will be) but we can quickly run out of options. If a certain group of folks feel they are always getting the shaft in terms of "substitutions" then they may be less likely to fly regularly.
This is currently a major point of arguement in the ct and events.

I totally agree with you. The way the plane set is now we have nothing for the early eastern front (Russian side). Other than lend lease P40's or hurricanes, that came later in the war. We need the Rata, yak 1, Mig3, Pe2, P39, lagg3, He 111. I know that is impossible to get all of them but at least a few would help.
-
Agree as well.
If it were up to me, the Eastern front should be filled in first. Afterall, roughly 4/5ths of the war was fought there in terms of the magnitude of the front and equipment #s.
Definitely a Mig, Yak-1, P39, LaGG, Ju52, Me410, He111, and anything and everything in between :)
Hell, I'm satisfied with ANY new a/c or vehicles.

<<< The way the plane set is now we have nothing for the early eastern front (Russian side) >>>
yeah, give us biplanes.

The eastern front is by far my favorite but I a think pac stuff is by far the favorite of a large portion of ah.
I would rather see planes get intoduced that have uses in mulitiple theaters. However I think it would be better to fill out the holes that exist in the theaters where we already have a good portion of the planes needed.
