I also do not understand some of the primary steps identified in the help file. There is a leap of logic in the initial steps portion that I can't overcome.

Written by HT? Yeah the proggie is slow, cumbersome and crashes on me alot as well. I'm starting to learn to keep it going by avoiding clicking on certain buttons, though. I should be writing it down as I go. Baby steps ... baby steps. Damn thang.

1: If I don't open the blank terrain to start with ... it'll crash trying to create one from scratch. Try that first. Then select terrain to replace the water.

2: I haven't gotten far enough into it to learn how to import terrain. When I do ... watch out! ;)

Hey Guy's, the TE will be changing with the advent of AH2, so you might want to wait untill the new TE comes out before spending to much time on a map.

It can be quirky... when you start a new terrain, do it in this order.

Launch editor.
Create new.
Set size.
SAVE.
Exit.

Launch editor.
Open saved file.

Also, AKWabbit's BMP2Map can be your best friend.

The maps I want to import are the gps terrains available online. It provides a detailed terrain of a specific global grid.

download ogres map maker and folow the instructions. However it only allows for 512 x 512 maps which are to big for the ct.

For the rest an image editor and akbmp2map is the way to go.

Also "blank" is just that "blank", follow dux's instructions above.

one other thing, its best to read, I mean actually "read" the help file. Then most other questions can be resolved by doing a search on the te forum.

Nuttz and Pokie are the nics you should search for first.

mapmaker will make any size or any scale map, you just have to edit mmaker.cfg.txt file. Its also very easy to use but takes alot of time to download all the files & unzip them. Winrar is the best app for unziping them.

I have changed the config file but to no effect. I know others have as well.

Do you know for sure? if so could you paste what you did to change the size here?

Just FYI... ALL AH maps are 512 in actual size. The smaller maps just have more "not used" space outside the clipboard map boundaries.

for example, a 128 map uses only a 128 square inside a 512 total space.
