I know it probably matters to no one but me, but what would be the chances of having the aircraft markings on some of the aircraft from the same group?
As an example. I think it would be fun to be able to fly a 51B and wing a 51D in the same group markings. Right now it's a April 44 51B in 4th FG markings, and a December 44 352nd FG marked 51D.
Having both as 352nd for example lets the look be that much better and historically, at least in Europe the Bs and Ds were mixed together often.
Same with the Jugs. Wouldn't a flight of D11s, D25s, D30s all in 56th FG markings for example, look great? A mixed group of red nosed Jugs on the prowl?
Like I said, it's probably of no real interest to most folks, but for us historically minded types, that look when you glanced out at your wingmen, would really be something. it would make for some great screen shots and films and add to the feeling of immersion in the game.
Having the Spit V and IX both in the gray/green camo of 1942 on is another example. right now its a 41 marked V and a post 42 marked IX. Those got mixed together on escort missions as well. And, at least initially one of the advantages of the same camo is not knowing what you are up against even if you get close enough to see the paint :)

I think that will be doable in AH2 :D

Player created, historical skins approved by HTC will be available in the hangar for everyone to use and see.
-
For immersions sake, defib tabs should be applied to the chests of players in case of simulated deaths.
-
For immersion's sake ... Siaf have a drink.

For immersion's sake, you all should be thrown off of tall buildings every time you hit the eject button.

I like +Tiff's idea and I think you'll see a lot of skins for the various model varients like that. I know I'm going to make a P-38 and P-51 skin showing the markings of the 479th FG when AH2 comes out.

I like the IL2/FB approach.
You can use either 100% custom skins with markings included inherently in the skin, or you could use a 'marking' feature + 'base skin'.
For instance, there's an unmarked 'base skin' with the colors of the plane intact, but the places for national markings, squadron marking, and squadron/individual numbers are empty. You will choose the base skin, and then select country, regiment, and number. With this, you can form a set of planes piloted by people with basically same camo work, but different individual numbers ranging from 1 to 99. In German planes, "Number 1" is designated to give out the flight leader's marking.. etc etc.

I like the same thing there as well Kweassa. I don't know how much bandwidth it would take to have the aircraft number showing for a squadron in sequence But it would help if we had a way within the "club" section to place guys into aircraft numbers when they join your squadron.

This will be "do-able" in AH-II.
Been a long time coming (well over due) and I like the idea too. :)
