Title: Festers Map

Fester hosted H2H today on his new map.  Great Map for gameplay, had fights in minutes....A21 10K base...reminds one
of the Beta Map.  VH Bases have towns also....rolling hills for
on the deck furballs.  

Many other ideas brought forth in the Map....roads wrap around
the airbase...makes it easier to spot convoys.  GV spawns a Hoot.

I like it....instead of chasing fights...or going into a 30 to 40 plane gangbang, many smaller fights should develop.

HT has it.

they recompile it or somthing before they release it so hope it makes it into fridays terrain change (crosses fingers and prays)

i'm a bit burned out on 30 mile fight chasing of the current large arenas.


the map I made has field spaced the same distances on average as mindanao small map. and we all know what a furball mindanao is.

Fester & HiTech
This map is one of the best I have seen since Trinity was brought out. Has everthing any type of AH player could want, with tons of GV spawns, AF's to fight over and as Hajo said, finding a fight on this map will be anything but difficult. I say AH would be doing all the MA a great justice by putting this map up this friday and giving us all somthing new to fight over:D :D :D

Please please please pretty please give us this map:lol

Hell of a map Fester. Thanks for sending it to me earlier today. I just got through flying around on it offline and it was a blast; I hope it makes it into the terrain change in time.

I hate to be a killjoy... I sent HT my MA style map a month ago today but I'm not holding my breath about seeing it in the MA anytime soon. They are already late by their own schedule for AH2 and from what I gather they're all working flat out on getting it released and everything else is secondary.

Shame really because I like my map and I like Festers too after downloading it and having a look. If mine doesn't make it into the current version I plan on modifying it ASAP as soon as the new TE comes out for AH2.

Looks pretty neat Fester. I like the 2 CR, 1 CA fleets, no DDs; nice touch. Rolling hills with ranges that need to be climbed over. I noticed the effort takin to lay out the GV spawns. GV spawns are set up for defenders ability to re-take a base. Also means missions that cut into GV spawn chains going to be great.

Umm nice touch on A21... 10K base for king of the mountain. It will have to go though since you don't have one for the Rook or Knight setups. If each country had 1 on each side of that mountain that would work out fine but as it is? Doubt HT will approve it.

Having the convoys around the bases is also nice. Not sure I like the ease of repairing HQ. Takes away from buff pilots enjoyment if there is no real point to setting up an HQ mission. Noticed what seemed to be an overly large amount of terrain behind the Bish setup. Might be abused by buffs climbing out in extra safe territory. Could some un-aligned towns be set out in that area to blink so such pilots could be found easier?

Oddly enough after I was viewing it for a bit AH quit to desktop for no apparent reason.

well I know hitech and gang can do anything they want to it just comes down to what they think will be more beneficial. would releasing a new terrain that instigates fast paced action so dweebs have a diversion while ah2 is finished be worth the time it takes to recompile the terrain for use in the main arena?

Ive seen HTC do some fast work in record unbelievable time.

Gatso........took a look at your map.  Looks great!  I'm sure that

would be well received in MA also!  Possibilites for good fights

under the usual 30 plane gangbang limit

Big maps do look nice.....but this Big Isle Map has the majority

of the time 30 planes on 5......action usually limited to a huge

gangbang while taking bases.  Everyone checks dar when they

log on to find a fight.....what one usually finds in this map is a

huge green darbar with a small red one....or a huge red darbar

with a small green one.  Fights on this map usually confined to

two small areas of the map...pity too...it's a big map.  That also

could be the pack mentality at work...dogpile on the wabbit

ah what the heck.. I wasn't going to post this... you can thank Mr Bacardi for me doing so  :D Check out the ports btw. They're the only non standard feature and as such will probably get scrubbed. I think it's a good idea anyway.

Equinox is a nice map, but I had trouble with it. The boats dont move? I would like to see this in the MA.

Cit I like the way you changed the vehicle bases. I will reserve judgment on the rest until its in the MA.

 Ships move fine you just need to give them a waypoint. They dont have preset stating waypoints yet. Both maps are very nice. The destroyed building on the Eqnox map at the tank town are awsome. Really fine work both of you . Would love to see both these maps in the MA.

Noticed lot's of farmland textures on side of mountains and in other odd places, I guess they could be Vinyards, but looked a little odd

Great job on roads near airfields, gives base area more visual structure from above.

Just a thought about Fictional maps, what about giving certain regions names. It would add a bit of immersion and would become easier to give position, etc etc

Perhaps your quite new to AH, but back in the day one of the orginal beta maps had a single field (A1) at 10k in the centre of the terrain. It spawned some great fights, since there were lower bases the base of the mountain and great deal of team-work was required to capture it. I'd like to see something like that again. Having one side own it initially wouldn't be that unbalancing.

I agree. Come up with 19-22 names (1 for each island) and I'll add em to the CB map, see what it looks like.  :D

LOL I remember A1!:D  loved it,if ya took it ya felt like ya had achieved somethin!!! was fun throwin rocks down on the Rooks n Nits from up there:D

You know it always annoys the piss out of me when someone tries to stand up and deliver a message from the supposed superiority of the "I've been here since the beginning" crowd.

Perhaps you haven't noticed because your eyesight is failing but... don't see that map in rotation anymore do you? Maybe you have noticed that all the maps in rotation have a serious attempt at balance?

scJazz, that's not the way to be. There's nothing wrong with the approach Fester took with his map, or he wouldn't have used it. The effect the central mountain will have upon a countries cooperation level and the focus of fighting to one area will amaze you.

I welcome the return of the mountain. I would rather there were a few more changes to the map though. I am a little concerned about the peripheral fleets quickly running out of effectiveness for instance, but only MA use will tell.

I will be anxiously awaiting Friday's rotation to see what map pops up. A new map would be a great change of pace.

Really looks like that will play well.  Fields are good and close.  I also like that on some of your GV spawns it looks like a lot of them are in one direction.  That removes the possibility of the enemy taking your bases with GV’s but gives the home country a chance to take it back with theirs.

Only problem I can see, only 1 10 K base at the center?  That does give a little advantage to the country who lands in that SE corner.

Good job all together.  I hope to see it in the rotation soon.

Not seen this map yet, but what you describe would be a good thing for the other 100 or so other players that log on to play the game.  There are plenty of other things to bomb.

(OT: HQ and it's radar effect is kind of stupid.  Radar and radar bar should be based from each individual airfield, not some made up central place.)

Good job on you guys putting in the time for the maps, I hope HTC appreciates it.

The truth be told, I didn't know you were new to the game or whether you were a vet with a new handle... either way you clearly weren't aware of its existance. It's not in rotation because of its size, not because it happened to have a single field at 10k in the centre. When I started playing, the arena would only hold 200 IIRC and 100 people online would be the most I would see.

The idea is sound and made for some great furball action, as others will (and do) testify. AH really was a blast then and there wasn't any of that long-distance-can't-find-a-fight nonsense.

Oh yeah, I haven't been here from the beginning. July 2000.

I checked out both maps offline and I really like them. <> to your efforts !!!

Fester ... I just wish that the East and South bodies of water were close to the size of the North body. Was hoping that you could cut the access that the East and South bodies have to each other, and also cut down the size of the Southern body. This would effectivly eliminate or make it very hard to hide CVs in both those bodies of water.

would've been cool to have the seas pass through the center of the mainland, nice contrast of a CV passing through moutainous channels, but more importantly so they could be used offensively there too, they look a bit isolated as they are.

This advantage won't last long. The nice thing, it is an unique objective worth fighting for... a crown jewel of sort. If there must be balance, can this base be initially assigned a neutral or forth country status? But, like I said, it will only be a balance issue, and a small one at that, until its first capture... then alls fair.

In another thread, Skuzzy said that Trinity is up for Friday. Maybe Skuzzy will put your map into a "TEST" arena like he did with Big Isles ... to test and work out any map bugs ... that would be cool.

I think he heard ya, I think I landed first "announced" kill sortie in test arena - in a 262 of course (it is fester's map after all).   It seems it is using an old database because my name was my old one and perks were different.

Don't know whats going on, but everytime I log in to test the map, I either lose my cursor, or get a hard lockup (hard to tell since I can't find cursor) and have to reboot.:confused:

in fact id recomend to anyone who downloaded festerma from the bbs or h2h before htc released it on the terrain test delete it from your terrain folder and download it fresh from the terrain test server

Fester had to say I enjoyed your map today in the test arena...hope it makes it into the MA rotation.  

Fun point was "JETWARS" yes everyone had a 262 for like 10 minutes cause they were FREE.  I had a 262 fight that really rocked.  anyways WTG job welldone!

The best thing about Fester and his new map is this. He didn't like some of the earlier maps, so he designed his own - instead of whining. (Well, not too much whining :D)  And in this community, that's an admirable quality. ;) :)

I liked it.

A 109F4 with a DT could make a run on a base, losing the tank near the base, and still land the kills.

Good action, no pizza textures, yet add new ground based tiles like the CT and this is a happening map. Nice effort festard.

I enjoyed it.

wow... been gone and missed it... This is great!   This is the best big map by far.   Probly the best map so far.    

he moved the fields a little closer... everyone is happy... what a concept.
