Nearly seven in 10 Americans believe a special prosecutor should be named to investigate allegations that Bush administration officials illegally leaked the name of a covert CIA operative to journalists, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The poll, taken after the Justice Department announced that it had opened a criminal probe into the matter, pointed to several matters of concern for the White House as aides to President Bush decide how to limit the damage.
The survey found that a large number of Americans -- 68 percent -- had heard of the allegations, and the vast majority of those -- 83 percent -- labeled it a serious matter.
The Justice Department is investigating the disclosure to the press that the wife of a prominent Bush critic worked for the CIA. The critic, former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, has accused administration officials of leaking the information in retaliation for his publicly raising questions about the administration's use of intelligence about Iraq.

Sure, I do. That way when they find nothing, you lefties can't go crying public saying things like conflict of interest.

Yes...by all means, appoint a special prosecutor.
Assemble a grand jury.
lets see if we can get another president to ponder what the meaning of is, is..... or perhaps tell a little white lie. you know....."I did not have coffee with that reporter, Mr Novak."

How about "the majority of my tax cuts will go to the middle class"

Prove to me that was a lie.

I think they should get a special investigator who would leave no stone unturned.
One who would doggedly follow every last lead to the bitter end.
One who would never cease in his efforts to pull out every last shred of evidence no matter how infinitesimal, no matter the cost.
Any one know what Ken Starr is doing now?;)

Hi-tech must be advertising this game with posters mounted on redwoods.
Bring on the Special Prosecuter..investigator. It's the only way to be fair.

This is not a lefty conspiracy.
Robert Novak admitted on TV two senior White House administrators told him the information. He asked permission from the CIA to print it, and the CIA said don't use names. Yet, he went ahead and used names.
Remember... Robert Novak is a right wing conservative!
The thing I don't understand, I don't think Mr. Novak is protected by the Constitution and allowed to protect his sources here because there's been a crime committed and he has been a party to that crime.
His source is not a "whistle blower" talking about some illegal activity that needs investigation.
His source was committing a crime and duped Novak into participating in that crime.
It will be interesting where this leads....
Hopefullly it will lead to Karl Rove -
he's the guy that invented push polling and Willie Horton - total distortions of the truth. He's the crude and crap that is behind the Republican's "dirty" politics.

I recommend KEN STAR.
oh ya the Dems screamed about special prosecutors during the Clinton years and how un fair and divisive they were, the government can handle it they said.
So what has changed
O Ya Election year.
