Title: West Coast Mini-con News
Post by: FUNKED1 on October 02, 2003, 04:45:50 PM
We are pleased to announce that Robert F. Hornbeck, author of A Twin Engine Pilot In WWII (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1592867111), will be speaking at the Mini-Con, in addition to Korean War AD Skyraider pilot Jason Stewart.  Mr. Hornbeck served in the USAAF during WWII and flew the A-20G on a combat tour with the 312th BG in the Pacific.  You can find more about Mr. Hornbeck and the 312th here:  http://home.comcast.net/~rfhornbeck/wsb/html/view.cgi-home.html-.html

If you haven't registered yet, do it soon.  Our deadline to get discounted hotel rooms has been extended through tomorrow.  The last day to register for the Airshow or Banquet is October 9.  You can register for the basic package up until the end of the Mini-Con.

I always enjoy those guest speakers. Remember Gabreski at the 2000 WB con in NC? What a blinder of an address he gave! A lot of what he said was also in his book that I bought.

I'll hold off buying Hornbeck's book just now from that weblink because we might get a chance to buy an autographed one at the con.

You're scaring me lazs.  Hopefully this mental picturing isn't happening while you're alone in bed with one hand under the sheets.

I'll be there.  I'm driving down on Thursday and staying through Tuesday.  I'm gonna be rooming with Pongo and SOB (giving SOB a ride down there).

LOL MiniD & Lazs! You guys... :lol

MiniD - are you coming down I-5? Remember, once you've crossed the state line, you'll be able to get SOB to get out to pump your gas. :D

Sorry, sorry - last time for that joke before we meet! ;)

San Jose is the closest airport? Hmmm.. ya never know; I'd get a chance to see Beet1e's very own vegetable too...

Maybe I should check the flights......................

LOL, the sad thing is that it's kind of a novelty to be able to pump your own gas.  The only time you ever touch the pump in Oregon is when you're standing around waiting and they're helping everyone but you.  Reach for that nozzle and pull it away from the pump and suddenly you have a swat team of gas attendants swarming your position!  :D

I've already told you - you're coming! You were undecided, so we decided for you. :D

BTW, a tomato is a fruit, not a vegetable. :D Shall you be bringing Mrs. Toad?

We thought of you today -  walking past a house in the country when a ferocious dog-barking could be heard. Thought we were about to be attacked by a Rottweiler. Turned out to be a chocolate labrador - friendliest dog you could imagine.

I knew beforehand that a tomahto is a fruit. But I didn't wish to refer to her as your "fruit", especially since 90% of our dear readers are probably unaware of the toMAHto's true category.

And with that, I'm retiring for the evening.

deja... there is nothing wrong with picturing a bitter, prune faced fat guy while lying in bed if you are secure in your masculinity...  After riding in funked's car I feel very secure..  I would even be seen in a mini cooper... well... that may be an exageration but...

You will drive right by my house deja... you better stop.   don't piss me off fat boy!

Toad.... yeah!  do it.

It's the AH con version of the "Special Olympics".  The name seemed to fit better than most.

It's doubtful.

I got more irons in the fire this week than a cattle rustler.

But, I'll give it another look after Wed. The should have a decent part of the stolen herd rebranded by then.

That's OK, the con isn't until next week.
