At the risk of sounding stupid; Does your friend have a scsi interface card installed? ;)
Scsi devices require their own drivers installed before they'll work.

its pc from store (secound hand) :) heh have on-board scsi card, but dunno why its wont work (propobly)
so, i need to install special drivers when boot system, or better just to buy IDE hdd?

You need to install the scsi drivers from floppy into the dos...I myself have a special start up floppy for my 486 that has dual scsi drives in it.... with out it it wont reconize the drives either.
you can still get some of these online (pcdrivers.com) or one of the other sites.. Compac may have them on there site also ... but as in the name "Compac " it give ya an idea how much stuff is still on there site ..
compac is a mix and match of everyones left over parts , so you will need to figure out which system it is along with what scsi interface card is in it , along with the drive and its peramiters.
Toss up its info here and i'll help ya look .
