Title: Hitler : Rise of evil
Post by: Furball on October 04, 2003, 04:58:27 PM
Anyone else see this TV program?  Its brilliant.  Cant wait for the second part.

I thought Robert Carlyle really captures Hitler from what i have seen of him in newreels.

See what happens!!!  The Austrian Academy of Art could have prevented the whole thing by accepting Hitler into the art school.  He had a mentor who would have got him in, but Hitler chose not to.  He didn't have the guts, imo.

Hitler was not a good people artist, far as drawing people.  What he was good at was architectural drawings.  At least from what I've heard on TV and seen his work on TV.

Hitler would have been good at architectural renderings, and quite possibly, could have been an architect.  He had models made up of his Fourth Reich city of Berlin in the bunker.

We all know how long that lasted.   It is a facinating subject, and that's why there are always programs on History Channel about it.  I think Hitler alienated his underlings and set the stage for war.  He was an idealist and not an artist, or a general during war.

What is amazing to me, that I will never understand, is why and how he gained so much power.  It seems inconcievable to me, German generals would listen to anything he said, much less carry out his orders, fearful of the consequences of not doing so.

That's all from me on this subject.  It's something to think about.

Like Stalin, Castro, Kim Il Jong, Hussein or... well really, any dictator?

Not all the Generals listened to Hitler or agreed with what he said, this is not an excuse for them, but instead to show that it was the people that were easily convinced... or completely brainwashed. No country in the world is without a lot of people that are of that nature. Complacent in what their leaders, or the majority, do, so long as their way of life improves... atleast initially.

Is Robert Carlyle the same guy that was in Ravenous? I thought that was a good movie.

A dictator relies on the duplicity and in-fighting between his underlings. To play one off against the other is the ultimate way of staying in control.

This out of context quote of you finding any redeeming quality whatsoever in Hitler disqualifies you from any future political aspirations.
