How do I use one printer at home for 2 computers? Is it just a matter of something like a split printer cable or something more elaborate like networking them together? (The latter I cannot do, since its a work PC, proprietary info)

I guess as long as my laptop info is not "shared" with the home PC, then I'm cool. Some of my work involves military design stuff and thats a big no no! (Although most of it is stripped down so that its not a proprietary issue)

you could do the wireless thing. I kinda skimmed through an article in PC magazine (I think it was this months issue) about setting up a reciever on the printer and having a card in each pc that would send to it.
I didn't pay a lot of attention as I only have the one pc, but thought it would be kinda cool as you could set the printer up anywhere, and I'm a bit low on extra desk space.
anyway if your interested and don't have that issue, I can see if I can dig it up and scan it for you.

Hey, thks for that offer Capt. but don't bother, I'll just get up and plug it in once a week when I'm at home working virtual, not worth the worry.

Or you can get a router with a printer sharing port .. Remember those ?? the printer hooks up straight to the router box and you load the printer software/drivers on each pc.
Mines currently attached to my gateway pc ... and shared that way .. same thing basically
this perhaps ...

easy way is to add printer, network, select printer...... Have to go onto home and "share" home printer first.
