Could the button be made to never change unless pushed?
Don't know if it's like the clipboard map's buttons popping up without being pushed, but it'd be easier not having to check on it all the time.

It's saved per-plane according the last sortie you flew in that plane.

it changes for me, have it as one in a first sortie with a given plane, and when i take out that plane again, it's changed.

Make sure the files in settings folder aint read-only.
