Title: A video card tip from non-techie
Post by: daddog on October 07, 2003, 01:04:44 PM
I have a Celeron 2.4 processor with a GF4 Ti440 128 meg card. Running XP as my OS. Frame rates have been pretty low from what I would expect from my system. 20’s in furballs and maybe 40’s in clear skies. One of my squadies, nifty taught me how to clock the card, which helped a bit. Then banana told me to try running at something higher than 1024 x 768. I thought it would have lowered the frame rates. Yet running it at the next higher setting (1288 x 1024 if I recall) really helped. Clear skies are now in the 70’s and furballs in the 30’s and 40’s. :) Frame rates jumped about 20!

Thought I would pass that along. :)

banana is a butt.

:D

Glad to hear your system is running well daddog. I didn't realize AH liked higher resolution. Good tip to know.

Now, let me know when you want to get kinky and I will tell you how to overclock that 2.4 Celeron. :)

it's not AH that likes the higher res. it's g-f card. got my 64 meg. and was disapointed with it for a month before i just turned everything up to see what it would do. frames drop below 40 now only in rooms that have alot of cities. but thats cause of my old 750m athlon and pc100 mem. ports(3 year old machine)
