Sometimes you don't even pretend to take the picture that way, it's a combination of factors that give the following result:

Does it or doesn't it look like a painting?? :)

It's a photo that a friend of mine took inflight of the aztec I was flying. Got some others in close formation, but this one has that magic touch... :)
